Work Christmas Parties

we have ours at a hotel near where I work, nice 3 course meal, free bar, band, locals get free taxis and as I live over 25 miles away I get a nice hotel room :winkold: I finish at 1 on fridays so will be heading straight there for swim and sauna and chill before tonights party.

I have just 2 rules and thats not to get bladdered and not to shag any birds from work, I love seeing people make pricks of themselves and having to show up for work on the Monday

Apart from not particularly wanting to scialise with 75% of these people My only issue is that we are really lucky to get this free yet the moaning is pathetic

a lot of the women on the shop floor boycott it as partners are not allowed yet asked for the money instead! The free bar gets abused by a minority so not sure if they will do it this year as some were ordering cocktails and treble vodka and red bulls

Tomorrow I will be out with a bunch from a place I left 10 years ago - still get the invite

i assume it's not for the joke telling either :-)

Waiting for a funny one I guess. That or for his round, same sort of timescale.

Pah I will never buy a round for those bankers :-)

I have to go to ours tonight, I only go once every 6 years but I hate it so much it has ruined my week already. My Dutch is OK ish but in situations where there is a lot of noise I just can't translate fast ewnough + they have a band, not a DJ.

My usual excuse to not go is that it's too far away and taxi costs etc but this year it is 500 Meters from my house.

Can leave early though I suppose :-)

I havent been to a works christmas party for about 5 years and I have been working at this place for 8

Normally i'm the only one on the floor pretty much who doesn't go, its not that I am a grinch or anything just more than I would prefer to get a bottle of vodka or jagermeister and have a drink with all of my mates. I explain to everyone that I have 'mates' and the 'workmates'

I mean why the fook would I wanto prop up the bar with a 50 odd year old woman who I cant stand any way when I could be out causing havoc in my local with me mates. I have quite a few proper mates at work but I make a point of seeing them outside work when there isn't a load of other knob heads there who I cant be arsed to stand and have pointless chit chat with

I dont pretend to like you at work so why would I pretend to like you just cuz I am outside of work

even team meals and stuff like that, if they are being done during work then fine i'll pop along but if they involve going out after work then I just wont bother

yeah I know that makes me come across as a bit of a prick but oh well...in all fairness the majority of people understand.

The place I work at (really big company) never do anything :-(

When I was a student I worked at a Beefeater, we used to have some cracking parties (it would be after closing), always managed to get some action too 8)

Got mine tonight.....although I do get on with people at work, 'work' is the only thing we all have in common and so we inevitably just end up talking about work. So it becomes a bit like just being pissed in the office.

And we had to pay £20 to bring a guest too! Must be to cover the huge fee the band 'Diamond Geezers' charge to perform at office Christmas parties.

All the companies I've worked at for the last 5 years have been too **** cheap to fork out for a Xmas do. Fortunately my current-albeit-soon-to-be-ex-workmates are actually proper mates and we're regularly out and about anyway.

We have had to pay for it ourselves too :(

I'm in half a mind not to turn up this afternoon. I really can't be arsed. I have a thumping headache (that will be the vino last night then!) and just want to curl up into a ball on the sofa and watch old Bond movies.

Well I've decided to go (just to show my face), "attempt" the obligatory quiz and leave about half an hour after the meal. Buy a bottle of vodka on the way home, job done.

Also, is it wrong that I'm getting drunk before this afternoon? It seems to be working (at least the headache has gone - hair of the dog FTW!).

Ours was last night here - www.themonastery.co.uk

It was my first full-on works Christmas party in this country and was fearing the worst but it was actually pretty tame compared to what I'd geared myself up for. It was amazing how many people I didn't recognise too.

There was a free bar all night which was awesome, and it was a welcome chance to put a hard year to bed. The only negative was that I learned how many women like a chap in a cravat. I wish I'd thought to wear one when I was single...

Ours is here:

http://www.the-courthouse.com

It's about as posh as it gets for over here. I've sorted my Secret Santa out as well, and I think it's a goodun. We had a £20 limit, so I bought a digital photo keyring. The lad I'm buying has just had a baby (well, his wife has, but anyway) so I asked his wife for some photos, knowing full well that she'll tell him. Instead, I've filled it with photos of our boss in a jacuzzi.
