Except he literally is. Second biggest game of his career. Remember?

What is it about people who find one instance to prove their narrative, but conveniently forget the rest of the evidence?

the fact he has even had to come out and state this, shows what rocket polishers some of the media (and fans) are.

I'm so glad he's come out and said that! Shut all those idiots making assumptions up.

I love Jack to bits, but a specialist penalty taker he is not, it's not like we had Le Tissier or Signori lined up and they refused to take one. To my memory Jack has taken 2 penalties, one in the play-off semi-final against WBA which he scored and granted that's a pressure situation, and the other away at Sheffield Utd which he missed.

Southgate said he's picked the takers based on what they did in training, which is fine, you'd hope he also of took in to account who can handle the pressure/occasion and who can't.

Keane's comments are garbage designed to generate clicks and grab attention. There's maybe a sliver of a point with Sterling being a much more senior player with England, but to be honest I wouldn't of been confident of him scoring a penalty either (his record is scored 1 missed 3 in the PL). I'm not sure what Keane expects them to do, they can't force Southgate to pick them and even if they did Keane would just play it the other way screaming lack of respect or some other guff, you can't win. It's not like they have amazing penalty records behind them, so why call them out? Why Grealish in particular? Because it's a name that generates interest.

I've no doubt Jack would've taken a penalty had he been given the chance.

Love that Grealish has basically called Southgate out. Why should he sit around and take the flack when the manager made the decision. Grealish owes Southgate no loyalty after the way he’s been treated.

I don't think that's what he intended at all. He's not a prolific penalty taker so I don't think anyone would be angry he didn't take one. Keane just needs to wind his neck in.

Agreed. But perhaps Keene thinks that Jack should have demanded to come on earlier, stuck one on Southgate and yelled at Mount, “Oi Mason! Sling your hook son, we’ve got a match to win here.” Then stride on to the pitch?

It was a carefully worded tweet imo. He is letting the World know Southgate ignored him again.

I'm sure in Keane's mind there's nothing violence or intimidation can't solve...

Keene’s a bitter old rent-a-quote doing exactly what he does. Same as any chancer on Talksport and other places that just need clicks and engagement. It’s sad to read fans - especially Villa fans - who should know better echoing this tripe, but such is the modern world.

He doesn't take penalties for Aston Villa. That's your evidence that he doesn't want the responsibility? Not that there might be better penalty takers in the squad, that it's a team game and despite occasional evidence to the contrary, he knows we're not actually Jack Grealish FC?

He didn't call Southgate out. He corrected people accusing him of avoiding taking a penalty.

Do you think Southgate will be happy that Grealish has told the world he ignored him again, of course he won’t.

Especially on a pitch where he’s protected or in the safety of a studio. A bully of the highest order.
