I really hope this area of the team is sorted out. Id like to think MON isnt stupid, but at times, i do wonder.

I know imagine how stupid a manager must be to play a defence that was hard to score against and which helped a team become very hard to beat. Stupid Mon!!!

As the 7th goal went in at Chelsea and as we went out of Europe were you thinking that ? We are easy to beat when it really matters IMO, the lack of silver or CL proves that.

Hard to beat does not equal 3 points unfortunately, hard to beat is a basic requirement we should have had sorted a long time ago.

Really pissed off with the West Ham 'bracing' themselves for us to bid for Parker story!!!!

Can't see why we would want to replace Milner (one of the countries brightest prospects) with a past it player who has found his own level playing for a crappy team?

Porno dwarves you can keep him!!! We don't want him, (hopefully?).

I see what you are saying about replacing Milner with a player of Parkers age! However, I totally disagree about him being past it. I'd say Parker is playing the best football of his career, apart from that year at Charlton he had which attracted the interest from Chelsea.

What worries me most is the prospect of having petrov and parker in the same midfield. Teams would just waltz through the middle of us IMO? Parker is playing well in a poor Spam side but I think we need a more dynamic box to box player?

ive had about 4 bloody sun readers say it to me already today

i cant see this in a month of sundays, WHs best player (which still doesnt say alot) so they would want silly money, he's been on good money at his last 2 clubs why would that change now so he would want silly money, if he was 26 i couldnt see this happening, but he's not he's too old

£10 - £15m plus £50k+ in wages for a 30 year old? MON isnt that daft

What?

No way?

If we could get Petrov and Parker both playing in the defensive midfield role, and then have Ash and Downing on the wings, Sacrifice Carew or Heskey and play Ireland off Gabby... that would be a unbelievable team in my opinion...

---- --------Gabby --------

Young ---------Ireland--------Downing

--------Parker -------- Petrov -----

I like that!

I like the idea of having two defensively-minded players to hold while others attack. But I wouldn't want Parker and Petrov.

They'd both have to be replaced in a few years time and, if we sold them, would be worth no more than £3m/£4m each.

If MON wants to have 2 DM's, which I doubt he does, then he should look abroad for a tall, strong ball-winner.

Cueller was dropped for the chelsea game. Young started didnt he?

Well obviously you have Delph coming through aswell!

If Gilberto Silva can still do it for Brazil then i see no reason why Parker doesnt have a few years left in him...

All i do know is, as long as it's not Nigel Reo-coker... we'll be okay!

We will have to agree to disagree on that one, an uunbeleivably poor midfield IMO.

I wouldn't mind NRC in a 5 man midfield, he could do the dirtywork! But I can't see him staying long because of his rift with MON and the fact we have a younger, more skillful version in Fabian Delph.

Also, I don't think Gilberto Silva would cut it in the Prem now, he looks a lot better with Brazilians around him.

Wouldn't surprise me to see Downing slot into Milner's role if he goes. Then MON would look at bringing in another wide man. Not saying I think it's best option, but I can see MON looking at it or thinking that way.

I think "unbelievably poor" is a bit harsh on that midfield tbh. It'd be good but only for a few years until Petrov and Parker's legs both went.

Gilberto Silva always has a younger more dynamic defensive midfielder alongside him, usually Melo. Plus petrov is not in the same league as Gilberto in terms of quality?

I heard similar, but that it would be Ash who moves into the middle and plays off the front man.

Anybody that thinks parker would be a good signing wants their head looking at. The two men at the top after last season realise what we need to do. Wait and see. Parker though isn't the answer. Horror signing if it happend.

Personally I thought Downing was signed for that role. Milner just took to it like a duck to water and changed everything.

Well if he does take that role he will have to stop wimping out of tackles?
