I've got a spare in Holte End lower Block L4. Mate got bad back so can't make it. £20 - can meet outside Holte. Send me a message. Cheers.
  2. No he was discarding God & Big Ron took a flyer on him!
  3. General - I am a voice of reason. Just wanted to say goodbye - this is too much now!
  4. Thanks, you've just written my new signature.. Actually, McLeish did exactly that - signed a convicted sex offender on a 3 year deal. Classic!!!
  5. General It is much appreciated that you have decided to post in reply to the 'Managergate' frenzy that has broken out. Ultimately, only time will tell based on the appointment made and the 'success' the new man brings. Your list of considerations for the qualities required is extensive, but I think there are a few (many?) fans wondering how Fulham managed to appoint Martin Jol so quickly after their previous incumbent ostensibly walked out at short notice? Best regards General and Villa forever!
  6. Tracksuit Head Coach with Houllier as DOF
  7. Who ever thought Tony Barton would win the European Cup? Don't think Europe quaked in its boots on his appointment as Saunders successor. Probably just as well we didn't have Internet forums back then!
  8. Isn't DOL looking for a new job? [Hastily grabs coat & runs]
  9. General While we wait for the outcome of the managerial selection process, there's a question that won't go away in my head. Did GH go willingly or not? His comments on the official site, about disappointment, feeling healthier, looking forward to a full season in charge, seems to imply he wanted to stay in post. Was that against best medical advice? Or were there other factors at play? GH did several things that caused the fans to become disaffected with him at times, but in the cold light of day (backed by the board and your earlier comments) he was trying to change the playing style, address the issue of total player's wages and, I suspect, had a much improved network of scouts to tap into going forward. I wonder, was his attitude to be the manager or nothing? Was any consideration discussed about another role e. g Director of Football or similar. My guess is you'll feel unable to provide the real answers to this (and things tend to never be black or white of course), but it does seem a shame that a man with his experience, knowledge and contacts could not be used by our Club in a capacity that would fit in with his obvious desire to work, coupled with a role that would have safeguarded his health. As always, would appreciate your thoughts.
  10. I think writing that a bloke on the radio kept saying Lerner like Learner or Larner is pedantic - trivial detail. Just like I'm doing now! God I'm bored - just name the new manager ffs!!!
  11. Didn't pull up any trees, but I liked the way he was available to receive a pass - even though 9 times out of 10 he wasn't given the ball. His passing was usually first-time and accurate, rather than some in our midfield who want too many touches or force it forward too early and lose possession. He'll be fine when he gets his fitness sorted & other players know how he likes to play.
  12. Would still move him upstairs to D.o.F. role & get younger guy in charge of team. Moyes? Coyle? Guardiola lol !!
  13. The words 'Aston Villa' and 'AVFC' are the only brand icon we need! Any cheap alternatives in claret & blue will not be accepted. If any 'jonny foreigner' needs some bloody little squares to tell it's the Villa playing, then they are not true football fans & we don't want them watching! I started off liking the idea of the squares for this year's kit, but the more I see them the more 'naff' it looks. The home kit should stay traditional to the heritage of the club & they can p*ss around with the away kit as much as they like for a season.
