Gringo Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Alistair Darling, has confirmed that ‘Britain’s Budget for 2010′ will be delivered on 24th March which means that he now has less than two weeks preparation for what may or may not be his last budget, given the looming general election. The budget date was announced by Mr Darling in a ministerial statement yesterday and this detail was later reiterated by the prime minister during a separate speech. The date of the budget will draw further speculation that the general election will be held on 6th May as has long been expected. The belief now, however, is that the economy will be the main issue which the political parties will fight over and essentially seek to gain votes over. As the poll on the previous thread was a little dated, here's a new chance to exerecise your right to have an opinion. Poll to run til budget day.
Rodders Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 100% Lib Deb 8) Nah, seriously my MP hasn't changed since the last poll so nor is my vote. I think LD's are going to be dropping a few seats this year though :/ edit: well it was :x
tonyh29 Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 I went Tory , no surprises there ... I know the VT voters aren't convinced by Cameron but I think all must agree we need a change of government ... I Don't really see how anyone could consider voting for this current labour mob ,regardless of their previous voting tradition or hatred for Tories ... Be interesting to see what bribe Darling, sorry Brown forces Darling to throw at the voters in a last ditch attempt to buy some votes ... and continue labours scorched Earth policy Wonder if the libs will lose VT votes for Nick Clegg saying that Porn wasn't his cup of tea yesterday :-)
Rodders Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Nick "30 shags" Clegg said that? Hmmm. There was that LD candidate in Gravesend who was a director of an adult video company who was announced yesterday wasn't it
Jon Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 a healthy sprinkling of liberal democracy for me please.

There was that LD candidate in Gravesend who was a director of an adult video company who was announced yesterday wasn't it aye that was the one .. guess porn isn't seen as a vote winner by the leaders .. it seems the public will forgive MP's for shagging cheeky girls or men in parks but not for watching porn ??
wiganvillain Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 I went Tory , no surprises there ... Not surprised Tony more completely shocked at how fickle you are having declared yourself a "Lefty" just the other day O'Dreary must have been right :winkold:
tonyh29 Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 tbf it was the test that declared me a lefty .. i put it down to a flawed test rather than me developing a penchant for a long scarf and growing a goatee :-)
limpid Posted March 12, 2010 Administrator Posted March 12, 2010 I can't vote to return my sitting independent MP. I dunno if I want to,, just saying it's not an option.
thetrees Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 My problem is Cameron, as he smacks too much of Blair Mk2. But my fear is that incompetent idiots who have flushed our country down the drain will get more time to destroy what is left. A vote for Lib Dem is a vote for Labour, as the LDs are just itching to get some power, and they know that the only chance is by climbing into bed with Gordo's mob. So I am left with the dilemma, can I afford to make a protest vote?
Jon Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 But my fear is that incompetent idiots who have flushed our country down the drain will get more time to destroy what is left. The Bankers? doubt Green Dave's going to do much to curtail their excesses, to be fair.
Chindie Posted March 12, 2010 VT Supporter Posted March 12, 2010 Spoilt ballot, assuming I'll be able to vote.
Jon Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 actually, may vote green TBH. Green or Lib Dem. Won't matter in my constituency, as The Jam party always get in. Too many rich rocket polishers in this area of Cheshire, sadly .....

Too many rich rocket polishers in this area of Cheshire, sadly ..... Same here, really. Same situation. Except I've nothing against rich people. Our Retiring Tory is off to live in Tuscany, and presumably they'll parachute in some chosen bod to his safe seat. Probably an old school chum of someone, or someone with a background in PR or marketing or a few years in the City with Toby. I guess I'll vote tactically to (fruitlessly, as ever) try and stop the Tories getting in here. God I hope the Tories don't get in. Please don't let it happen.

I think they're bound to lose a number of seats to the Tories but I would think they'll make some gains on Labour, and the TV debates will be good for them. I'm voting Lib Dem, by the way.

My use of the word rocket polishers was ill advised. The are plenty of nice wealthy people who live In Macclesfield. There are also plenty of poor people who are also rocket polishers. Nicholas Winterton was out MP. Thankfully, he'll be going too at the GE. Don't know who his replacement is, but i won't be voting for them. I don't think a tactical vote will work for this constituency. Too safe I think. I'd love it too though. I'll still vote though, just on principle. ABC 'til I die. :winkold:
Risso Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 I'm afraid that whoever gets in won't make a scrap of difference. It all just boils down to who's the biggest rocket polisher out of Brown and Cameron. Brown's an incompetent buffoon who shouldn't be in charge of a corner shop. Cameron's a smarmy git who should be in charge of an advertising agency. The country is buggered either way.
