Trust the process You would think we were 2 or 3 nil down or something. They have had the rub of the green with the ref on their side and were not even trying yet it's still 0 - 0 and any big chances they have created have been offside anyway. The only way i think we concede is from a set piece because they cant handle the offside trap and we've been crap defending them recently. Popular Post Adam2003
This is how Emery’s teams have approached every first leg in 16 years. He has a decent record overall.
bannedfromHandV
In possession very disjointed in general, Diaby has had the best opportunities to create something but hasn’t yet delivered. First touches and passing poor, need to improve massively second half.
MattVillaPortsmouth
Too big a gap between mid and up top, Diaby played a lot in a right position - suppose the plan is stifle them, young Ajax team big big game for them, always going to have energy - so in that respect half a job done. We aren’t playing 2 of our biggest engines in SJM and Bouba. Can see them tiring and us pressing more then. All to make it a proper European night under the lights at VP next week

Exactly. Because ... this. We need to win.
Tayls
Let’s not forget as well that Tim was playing for QPR recently and Rogers was with Middlesborough two months ago. Now they are playing for us in Europe against a pretty big side in Ajax. Big moment for them to be involved.

Will take 0-0 in the circumstances. Fair play, they’ve done nothing apart from one chance. Fair play to us more like, just draining the game away from them. NorthEastVillan
I trust in Emery but I'd take a 0-0 right now. Perhaps more that 1 eye on Sunday and just telling the players to not over exert. On the other hand a win tonight is massive for Ajax.

We're away at what people considered one of the most difficult teams left in the conference. We haven't expended a lot of energy.l, we're getting minutes into Pau and Konsa after injuries, and we're giving Tim and Rogers some experience. This puts us in a good position for Spurs on Sunday and to control the second leg once that's out of the way. Seems like it's all going to plan to me.. Those people may be wrong. Ajax are a shadow this season and lost to AZ a couple of weeks ago.

I'd be very nervous about us resting more than we have tonight tbh. We should also consider Ajax have a few key players out and this is our weakened team vs our weakened team, not our weakened team against their best 11. It's why Henderson is captain, their usual captain and vice captain are out.
