Why is everyone so surprised with backline? Pau was never gonna start this game, he had no minutes the last and Digne has just got back from injury.

Carlos was clumsy last match but a lot of our failings were in midfield, not defence.

We've got to believe and trust these players. Hopefully Ramsey back in coincides with some tactical tweaks. UTV!

If he started Pau the talk would be all about what a mental decision that was when he's has zero minutes in weeks

That back 4 has shipped 6 goals last 2 home games not confident at all let's see if Emery and squad have learned there lessons and make the adjustments.Pau should have come in how else is he going to get match fitness. Concede early we're in trouble.

Exactly. Which is why singling out Clement and Diego is unfair. Yes, they aren’t our typical starters but so many players let us down against Chelsea. Hopefully that wrong is corrected today.

Although I can understand the disappointment at Pau not starting we really need McGinn, Luiz and Kamara to be at it today. When they're on their game we obviously play a lot better!

huge game for JJ as well, last season him and Moreno were phenomenal

This is a 6 point game you start your best players.

I’d rather Pau miss this game than miss the rest of the season due to being rushed back to soon.

That some refuse to see this obvious truth is annoying to say the least

It was pretty obvious we’d see the same team as midweek (JJ 4 YT aside), Emery said that he’d purposely left them out there against Chelsea to give them some time together to become better acquainted. We don’t have many other options and I guess Unai is hoping that the back four can improve with time together on the pitch. With no other options, it’s hard to fault him.

exactly this.

People moaning about the defence but are completely overlooking that the midfield have given them no protection whatsoever in recent games.

Luiz and Kamara and McGinn needvto stand up been going missing at times.

They were awful vs Chelsea. Couldn't string 2 passes together. Put the defence under more pressure.

Even if they’re not fully match fit? What if Pau got turned and United score? Would people then be complaining that he shouldn’t have started if not ready. Do you think that Emery doesn’t believe you should start his best players?

Need to win this one for a few reasons.

1. To get back on track after dropping our standards over the last 6 or 7 games barring Sheffield utd.

2. To keep in touch with the top 4

3. To put distance between 5th and 6th

4. One of my mates will be an utter bell end if we lose as he's a huge man u fan.

Pretty please 3 -1 to villa
