Two annoyances: one, please stop picking Henderson, it's beyond a joke. And two, there's really no English LB you'd like to take a look at, even against Malta and North Macedonia?

Otherwise, that plus Stones and Shaw is probably the Euros squad I guess.

Whys he called up players which are doubts I mean what's the actual point.

Also is Connor Gallagher the new Mason Mount?

And if they pull out he won't even replace them

Another call up for a mid table Saudi League midfielder

Ashley Westwood in the MLS has a better reason to deserve a call up

This is one of my biggest gripes. Already qualified and playing 2 favourable opponents. Just stop being so safe and boring. There should be several players he at least wants a closer look at.

TBH I get why he doesn't do much of it. There's only a very limited amount of time left before the tournament and he wants to make sure he maximises the time the players he knows he wants to take get to spend playing with each other. There's not much point picking people who definitely won't be getting on the plane.

The one exception I'd make right now is LB, where presumably he'll play Trippier against Macedonia, and Colwill OOP against Malta. But it doesn't seem fair to Colwill to make his England appearances in a position he's not great at, and it doesn't get the best out of Trippier either. He's not going to take Tyrick Mitchell to the tournament - we know Shaw and Chilwell will go, if fit - but he's capped Mitchell twice before so why not just balance the defence with someone who's actually a position specialist and then let other players play where they're more comfortable.

True but there's a lot of players that have been in the squad such a long time that missing a squad or 2 wouldn't hurt like Maguire, Walker, Trippier, Henderson etc. Also what happens if there's injuries and there is nobody he's seen/trusts enough to come in and replace them. It's a wasted opportunity to test a few different players IMO. There must be a few that are at least on the cusp? Even when there are withdrawals he rarely replaces them!

Agreed on LB, I don't know why he doesn't just give Mitchell another go considering he's capped him before. Or dare I say Dan Burn deserves a chance. Shame Rico Henry got injured as he'd surely deserve a chance by now.

Doesn't play regularly any more and is a shadow of the player he was

But in all seriousness is there another English player in his position either playing at a higher level or out performing him?

My only issue with the squad is the midfield, he's not even trying to look past Henderson and phillips, we'll need the quality of rice and Bellingham to carry whoever the 3rd player is in there, really disappointing especially as the middle has been a problem for so long

Surely 2 of Foden, Maddison, Saka, Bowen either side of Kane is enough? But could argue Gordon and Gibbs-White are more deserving of call ups at the moment.

he'll flirt with 3 behind kane for the malta game

               Kane

grealish - foden - saka

Bellingham - rice

we should score 10

gordon id agree im surprised he hasn't looked at him although ultimately i don't think he's good enough, gibbs white he definitely should have looked at in the middle and I'm also surprised elliot or jones haven't had a look, at least with JJ's injury i don't have to get pissed off about him not getting a chance

as it is 8 months before the euros he has no contingency plan against henderson's continuing decline or phillips getting more splinters in his ass - maybe the silver lining is that if we go in to the tournament with only 2 capable CMs he will be forced to finally play 3 behind kane as his main formation
