Match Thread: Nottm Forest v Villa

We seem to lack ideas. Playing it left or right to Digne/Cash just isn’t working. Zanniolo and Diaby are not linking up well with the full backs. It is all so predictable.

Instead of passing wide I would like to see McGinn take a run into the centre and try to lay off to Watkins.

Luis is not having a good game.

Unfortunately these types of defeats (if it stays like this) are why we will find it hard to finish in a champs league spot. This was a chance to gain some points on the competition which we would have failed to take advantage of. The incentive to win should be massive.

Don’t underestimate their ability at home, they aren’t undefeated for no reason, they raise their game - credit to them, they are fighting for everything, hopefully they run out of steam at some point. Dont think we will be as bad second half.

Their 'almost' penalty was offside - people do this sometimes, they count the attacks teams have where we've played them offside and think we're under constant pressure - when what we're actually doing is defending well with a high line.

Digne has been our best player i think.

The ref has let a couple of tugs go on Zaniolo and Watkins, but I don't think he's been any worse than okay-ish - not sure what the hoo-hah is.

We're playing into their hands. They have packed the middle third and we're still trying to work our way through the likes of Sangare and Mangala who live for tackling in those areas and 50/50s.

Zaniolo the player we've been able to find most often in attacking areas and his output has been poor.

Too obvious that we're eventually trying to hit Digne and Cash, by the time they receive it they are well covered. Moreno might be required second half to force Aina to commit more.

That's part of our style, no?

True it is but Forest aren't biting in terms of committing men and us being able to break their lines. Now they have 45 mins to hold a lead that is likely to be even more the case. We'll have to quicken things up.
