Popular Post newhavenhibby Posted August 10, 2023 Visiting Supporter Popular Post Share Posted August 10, 2023 (edited) Rode our luck and still have an outside chance to go and meet Villa. However we saw how Luzern will play next week in the last 20 with plenty of the ball and slick passing around the box. The final ball didn't work for them tonight and of course the crossbar saved us but hey ho will take that. R2 D2 was brave with going with only 2 established midfielders behind 4 attacking players..........but it worked. Also glad he put Miller back in at right back. Best moment tonight was Martin Boyle flashing the (another?) yellow card during the rammy that occurred midway through the second half. AvfcRigo82
Perfect result. If they keep it tight over there in the away leg and play well enough then they should be okay. Edited August 10, 2023 by AvfcRigo82
The Fun Factory
Looks like the score line slightly flattened Hibs, but that is a good result to take for the second leg. Haven't away goals been scrapped nowadays? If that is the case that is a straight 2 goal lead to defend.

Joe Newell is a massive bluenose so there's a huge incentive for him if you get through. Watched his interview after the game and he comes across as a great lad

Great result for Hibs, I can see them scoring in the away leg and that should do it. I think we will be given a decent test at Easter Road, because Newall won't be the only one that's up for it. Last night brings the McGinn, Bremner, Cropley, MacLeod, Hamilton, Campbell, Groves derby a lot nearer.

newhavenhibby Posted August 12, 2023 Visiting Supporter Share Posted August 12, 2023 Thanks John, ...........think Cropley went to Arsenal from us and then onto Villa after breaking his leg there?
Ceemo
Villa will have to register their squad on Friday before midnight for the play-off round. Any player signed after this date won't be able to face Hibernian or Luzern in either of the games. 1
