Ratings & Reactions: Villa v Brighton

Well that was a nerve-wracking evening but in the end an excellent performance from the lads despite missing about 5 trillion chances to make it 3-1 (BTW that is exaggeration for comic effect to save any statisticians picking me up.) By no means our greatest performance, particularly in defence, but we held firm when it mattered. 

Douglas Luiz, McGinn and Ramsey were excellent. Mings had a great 2nd half after a flaky start and Martinez as ever saved our bacon more than once as ever.  A proper Emery performance.

As a resident of Brighton (well, Hove actually) I feel compelled to apologise on behalf of my home-town team. I haven’t seen them play so dirty and Man U style shouty all season and I have no idea what got into them today. Anyway, **** them, we won.

See you next season on Thursday evenings and Sundays.

Oh, and **** Spurs and **** Brentford (though more gently in the latter case).

Never in my wildest dreams on 31 October 2022 did I imagine we could end up here. Get that Emery statue commissioned NOW!

Credit to them all. The quick start is what they planned for and got. Just credit to them. Players deserve such a huge amount of respect for what they've done this season.

That’s is an amazing result and performance and I think I speak on behalf of us all when I say congratulations to Everton for qualifying for the premier league

Ramsey was immense and could have had a hat trick of goals and assists if things had stuck a bit better for him. 

McGinn was incredible too. Dispossessed them on the regular and really kept his head throughout.
