They have had all summer and have sold 350. What a dreadful idea. I am glad it is bombing, it was a ridiculous idea in the first place, and using the survey as an excuse for it was utter nonsense.

Still 3 weeks to go to first home and they are all but guaranteed to sell out on a match by match basis. I doubt the club are sweating this at all.

Why do you think this?

Tbh, even a ballot for away tickets would swing me if I hadn't just moved house and dropping all my spare cash into decorating

I live near London and haven't been able to get to many one-off games and I'm miles down the ST waiting list.

If I could pay for Terrace View, skip the queue and win enough Away ticket ballots to build my history this season so I can go to Away games next season and maintain my away history sans Terrace View, it would probably be a worthwhile one off investment for me.

Though would be annoying to have to start again on the season ticket waiting list later on.

couple of unknowns here (i know you're not thinking about it but in case others are):

1) if terrace view totally bombs it might not continue next season so you might not be able to 'renew'. this is a skip the queue for this season only. after this season, i don't think you're then given the opportunity to buy a regular season ticket

2) if these are away tickets from the hospitality 'pot' they MIGHT be treated differently and not go on your booking history the way others are

I think people might be overestimating the availability of those tickets - the suggestion that getting in the Terrace View gives you a great chance of away tickets is mostly likely false.

As with everything to do with the clubs ticketing nowadays it's not in the slightest bit clear, because everything on pricing and distribution has been very deliberately hidden away, but there's a suggestion I heard that Hospitality gets around 40 away tickets per game - that's not the Terrace View, that's season ticket holders from all of the Hospitality areas, lounges, restaurants and boxes at Villa Park.

If anything, I think it might be being phrased in the sales guff to Terrace View season ticket buyers as more of a benefit than it actually is.

Those on the away ticket lists at the moment shouldn't worry, it doesn't look like there will be any change next season to the number of away tickets that Hospitality are taking, the victim here would be the fella who has a box in the Doug Ellis who now has another 400 people to compete with in their away ballot. Sorry Nathan.

It's worth remembering that for any away game there are always a number of tickets that even those with a history of 19 away games don't get a chance to purchase; the club takes some tickets, hospitality takes some tickets, the ballot takes some tickets and Lions clubs take some tickets - there are probably a couple of hundred a game that don't go through the hierarchy of ticket histories - I don't think this changes that much unless they're going to significantly increase the number that the Hospitality team get to sell, which I'm not sure they are.

I see the supporters trust have grown a pair of bollocks and raised a number of ticketing issues, including the Terrace View, with the club.

Terrace View

This new facility was already controversial; many fans wanted an improvement in the basic standard of facilities across existing concourses, such as been witnessed at other clubs such as Tottenham Hotspur, certainly not at the absorbent £1,500 our Club is trying to charge for the Terrace View. The Club misinterpreted the results of the Holte-End questionnaire. They equated upgraded facilities as an opportunity to earn more from supporters. Understandably, at the exorbitant price of £1,500, take-up is poor. Rather than rethink the pricing policy, the Club has compounded the issue by upsetting loyal fans.

How do you think they'll discontinue it? I can't see that kind of investment being abandoned or the club turning down money from anyone wishing to commit £480 on top of their existing ST or £1500 including a seat for 19 league games.

Wouldn't it make more sense for the club to lower the pricing until it was more popular, rather than discontinue it?

What a load of OTT bollox that letter is … They’ve got a valid point but then let themselves down with the language used throughout. The pricing point is wrong for sure and communication has been shoddy, but to bring loyalty to the club, how someone whose lucky enough to be able to afford it is robbing someone else higher up the list is just unfair. It’s the completely wrong tone and just smacks of letter by committee with too much waffle and misplaced / buzz word emotive language. Always thought that they were a vacuum of wasted space and this just proves it to me. All in my humble opinion as someone who is on the fence whether to purchase a season ticket this summer or wait it out…

I 100% agree with this. They were even worse when Gould and Hodgson were involved, which I am pretty sure they no longer are.

No really know much about The Aston Villa's Supporters Trust.

Seems to be a toothless entity according to a couple of comments. Was it or is it, ever worth joining? What is the point or objectives of this Trust?

Has anyone on VT with a terrace view seat been able to confirm that away tickets are possible? I've seen a screenshot on twitter of someone's iphone notes. Is that it?

It’s possible through the corporate ballot.  Unlikely to be successful though, you’d be lucky if you got away tickets once per season.

I think there was a valid point (miraculously) within the Trust's statement: the treatment of some fans and surrounding communication does genuinely seem to have stank throughout. The rest of it just seems like a rant that goes nowhere about the commercialisation of the game.

They aren't, thankfully. I heard from someone a few months ago that it got so bad a few years back (thanks to Gould in particular) that there were some interested in starting a breakaway trust, or something of the sorts.

laughed when their rant opened up bemoaning a lack of communication from the club. The irony is staggering given their complete inactivity bar the odd statement twice a year.

So this is just the standard away ballot. Not some super special away ticket preference.

I enter this every week, I've never won.

I think it's a separate thing for hospitality folks only - in theory you could enter both.
