Villa’s Race for Europe 22/23

Another horribly refereed game. No idea how the foul by McAllister on the Arsenal defender wasn’t caught by VAR before their goal and an absolute stonewall peno for Arsenal wasn’t awarded later.

They won't need to. Lose at Liverpool and Spurs will only need to win a maximum of 1 of their 2 games to finish above us.

Depends, if they lose one and win one and we lose to Liverpool but beat Brighton and the overall GD is 3 then we finish above them, very unlikely as that seems that we get 3 GD back in that scenario

If we lose to Liverpool by even one goal then we would have to hammer a brilliant Brighton side on the last day AND hope that Spurs lose one of their games AND hope that they don't hammer the other team.

Sigh. Well done Brighton.

**** off Arsenal.

Yep well done Brighton.  Disappointed in Arsenal today.  That dodgy Kane penalty could be key to 7th place after all between us and Spurs.

Nothing has changed. We were never going to finish above Brighton, who I suspect would finish at least 5 points above us, maybe more.

Thats 2 of the 4 games they were definitely gonna lose and they have won them both.

I've genuinely not been interested in their results as its been between us and Spurs for 7th for a few weeks now.

We now find ourselves in the position that even if we win both of our final games, we may still finish 8th.

Oh I totally agree it’s incredibly unlikely, that’s why I’m more peeved at the Kane penalty as our GD would’ve been the same just they would’ve been above us on GF.  At least then a +1 GD is much more likely over the next two games although still unlikely.

When was the last time someone finished 8th with 60 + points. Scrub that who was the last team in premier league to reach 60 points and not qualify for europe in any way?

Just wish one season where we're actually pretty decent we didn't have to case an abnormally high points total to finish in one of the lower european places.

Last season Man. United finished 6th on 58 points (and they chucked the season in around March). West Ham finished 7th on 56 points.

Need to take all 6 remaining points to have any hope at 7th, imo. Not looking likely at the moment.

You think spurs are getting a win and a draw in their next 2?

What’s the bet we beat Liverpool, Brentford beat Spurs, we all get excited for the final game and the we lose to Brighton and Spurs do enough against Leeds.
