Leander Dendoncker

Getting rid of Dendoncker wasn’t the problem, it was not replacing him which has left us in the shit. It was always clear he didn’t fit Emery’s system so we should have sorted it out properly in the summer rather than a botch job in January

He's really the last bit of Gerrard's legacy.  Given the £13m, Unai would have got someone much better.  He's basically unusable at our or Napoli's level.  I shudder to think we could have lost Doug and had Dendoncker replace him.

Along with Coutinho.

Yes Donk had his flaws but Unai was still happy to give him a couple of starts each season when injuries/suspensions hit so he had that little run in December.

Tim doesn't have that level of trust with the manager so from mid Feb we've effectively been two CMs down on first half of the season with Kamara's injury.

It's asking a huge amount to win a trophy when you're effectively going in with a small squad in key area than for the opening months.

I'm not sure he was really that happy to start him, he got rid of him after all.

He still started him at Man. United. Also put him on after 67 minutes v Arsenal. Tim simply doesn't have that faith in him hence him continually warming the bench against similar opponents.

No surprise

Hopefully he can secure a permanent transfer and we can get a decent fee for him

I think we’ll be lucky to get anything north of 3 or 4 million, wouldn’t even be surprised to see him leave on some sort of free transfer

New solution is to get him out on loan somewhere else given he must be on a  massive wage at Villa.  Emery obviously isn't a fan.

Monchi's fault.

If losing Dendoncker for 6 months meant signing Rogers permanently and getting Champions League then Monchi did well

They had to show him in the Villa shirt as no photographer in Italy was quick enough to snap him in his 5 mins of playing over 5 months for Napoli.
