Veretout would be a huge upgrade on McGinn in midfield

Agreed. We'll see how we shape up this season, but Gueye would have walked into our team as well.

McGinn and Luiz out for Gueye and Veretout? Yes please.

I think its a good first 2 games as the 5 or 6 games after we might struggle for points

I thought that, but other than Man City, we need to be looking for 3 points from all of them. If we struggle to pick up points against the likes of West Ham and Leicester, what hope is there for the season, really?

They were in the group of teams ahead of us last season but if we want to break into that group and beyond, it's time to start giving them a bloody nose.

The league feels pretty strong this year. A shame Everton and Leeds stayed up.

Players report back for pre season early July...... your underestimating what a difference 5 weeks on the training pitch will make 😃

Well no excuses for Steve.

If were expecting to finish around european places we should be beating teams and taking maximum points against the likes of Bournemouth, Everton, Crystal Palace and at least drawing against Wet Spam.

We need to also start taking points off the so called big teams at some point.

Yep, we should be looking for 9 points (or more) from our first 5 games. After that, it gets a lot harder.

Football never ever works as simple as that . The first 4 or 5 fixtures always throw some unusual results , look at Arsenals start last year. As for playing promoted teams early season this again can be difficult early on . They are high in expectation and riding high from promotion the crowd and general momentum. It’s a long season we will have players that will need to settle as well .

He's being heavily backed by the board and will be getting a full preseason this time around.

If we don't hit the ground running and are struggling to beat Bournemouth. Everton and Crystal Palace questions will be asked and rightfully so.

I don’t agree. He looked so out of his depth last time he played in this league.

I reckon if McGinn played in Serie A he’d rip it up and look much better than Veretout.
