This all has to go bust at some point surely.

I don’t think it’s even gotten started yet.

Sports in the US are further along the journey of monetising their sports, the Premier League has the potential global audience to be much bigger though.

Look how quickly French football almost collapsed when the tv deal failed. The EFL is a bubble waiting to burst also. I’d be very interested to see comparative spends in other leagues this year.

PL has moved so far from the EFL that a team has to spend an exorbitant sum to stay up. Or you spend a decade slowly cultivating a squad like Brentford.

Sadly being the league winner in the championship means next to nothing if you don't back it up with some significant upgrades during the summer.

It's sad really. I want more competitiveness in the league, and even if money were equally, there is only so much footballing talent in the world, and they can't play for everyone.

Not sure what the way out is. Germany brag about their 50+1, but they still have a 2-team league, which is kinda' worse than what we have in the PL.

it is a bit of a gamble for forest because they could have spent the 45 million on 4 solid 10-12 mil players when the add ons are included, however they clearly are going to give it a good go, the feel good factor must be so good up there at the moment especially after the 3 points they got over the weekend. Cooper is a very good man manager and no doubt most of these new signings will be rotated/given a fair hearing.

They just need to get Maupay and Aouar over the line then they will probably slow down. Imagine being a Forest fan who were bottom of the league not even a year ago when Cooper came in, to splashing all this cash now, must be a mad feeling for them!

Forest in administration in 4 years.

Got promotion out of nowhere. Spend a good chunk yes, don't do a Norwich....but they've gone absolutely mental.

They don't have billionaires to bail em out. Just a fat mobster

Even if they survive this year, they could easily drop the next like Sheff United

It's a gamble but almost a requirement. The ladder is getting pulled up at some point. The gap between the PL and EFL continues to grow. If you don't roll the dice, like our owners did 3 years ago you could be locked out for good.

I really like Forest, but this is absolutely batshit spending. Fair play for giving it a real go, unlike someone like Norwich, but this could see them away for another 20 years if it goes wrong...

What's the happy medium when you get promoted unexpectedly like Villa or Forest?

Gibbs-White was also very good for Swansea when Cooper was their manager, and I don't think he's been that bad for Wolves in the Premier League, it's more that as an attacking midfielder he didn't really suit their system as they don't play with attacking midfielders as such, see also last summer when they decided not to make Vitinha's loan permanet for around £10m, now one year later he's signed for Paris Saint-Germain for £40m.

The ironic thing is is that Sheffield United used him in a more advanced role, and if Wolves had have used him in a similar way this season he would have suited their system a lot better, as would basically be playing where Hwang as been playing for them, that is just off the striker.

Not sure if it's much different to us when we paid £30m for Watkins, he had had three good seasons in the championship, but arguably only one of those was exceptional after Brentford moved him from the wing to the centre-forward position,.

so its 25m up front, 7-10m of likely add ons, and another 12.5m for less likely add ons.

Will be interesting to see how they do, they are certainly going for it, good luck to them.
