Laughable Chimp Posted June 21, 2022 Share Posted June 21, 2022 (edited) Looking on whoscored, Zinchenko seems to have played primarily on the right wing in his breakout season in the Russian Premier League funnily enough but he had appareances in all sorts of positions from attacking mid, left back, right back and of course center mid. Edit: He went to PSV soon after on loan, but didn't start all that much and then to Man City where he's been primarily utilized as a left back ever since. Based on this evidence, its hard to make the argument that he was primarily a CM before being converted to left back. I think its more likely that he was always a versatile player equally capable of playing multiple positions, but Ukraine found best use of him as a central midfielder whilst City found him more useful as an LB. Do people know how the full backs at City play? In possession they move into midfield and the 8s join the attacking line. They are the only team who play like that.
