Agree. I’ve always liked him. Think he gets way too much unnecessary stick.

When he is in this vein, you can see how easily and fluently the skills, movement and intelligence come to him.

Leon looking composed and confident.

not trying to be a Debbie Downer, but they are playing against....at best....League 2 quality players (with maybe 1-2 are League 1 standard), not exactly a good gauge for bailey's abilities.

Maybe it is tho tbh.

That didn't stop people getting excited about archer when he scored against Israeli league players.

Archer isn't a first team player, he didn't cost £35m, and is five years younger than Bailey.

Also Archer was playing in a competition with some of the best U21 teams and players in Europe, and people weren't getting excited just because he scored against Israel, if he'd have been underwhelming as Bailey as been and scored that goal no one would have gave a rats, they were excited by it because it was another example of how good he's been in general, he also scored against the then current champions Germany.

HE wasn't 35 mill.

That would make him our record signing, more like 24 - 30 iirc.

Against a Danish league playing CB and one with almost no senior experience IIRC.

And tbh price isn't relevant here - both have to be of a high standard to play for us. Archer scoring for the U21s means less than in the championship, quite a bit less IMO.

The same defender that is on the verge of moving to the Champions League runners up? Don’t belittle this achievement.

Don't be silly. He's a young player with potential, like Archer, who hasn't proved himself in a top league yet - time will tell for both of them.

This is a weird take IMO. I was excited by Aaron Ramsey as a hot youth prospect tearing it up for Boro - I would be less excited by Leon Bailey doing the same thing in the Championship.

However, on the flip side, you can only beat what is put in front of you and I can only see positives to Villa in Bailey scoring goals for Jamaica, so more power to him.

Oh shit… bit of a surprise. I suppose with 2 years left… he either isn’t going to sign a new deal (or demands are too high), he’s not highly rated/valued and we want to get a good fee for him while we can… or he wants away? Not willing to be a squad or backup/rotational player?

🤔

Seemed to be happy with Unai…

I didn’t expect it, thought he’d be given a chance to improve and impress further…

Oh well, whatever Unai wants. Kind of makes me more excited as to the players we are going to sign and what level they are at…

Be good to get the complete truth on this.

Sorry @JAMAICAN-VILLAN 😔

Collomosse isn’t really one for making up shite or creating false rumours…quite respected and reputable.

But… could he be mistaken or something here? It’s just a short line, no detail or explanation:

Ings was sold to West Ham barely 18 months later and Bailey is for sale this summer. Of the trio – signed under Dean Smith – only Buendia has been even a qualified success.

Seems pretty certain and not speculative. Saying is for sale rather than will listen to offers. Makes it sound like a conversation with Bailey would have been had.

In usual Villa fashion though if he’s not in Unai’s plans we probably won’t be able to sell and he’ll be loaned out!
