Based on a few pre season games when Philogene-Bidace looked like prime Overmars means f-all … He’s tenacious and runs around but I question his quality for a team with our ambitions. Hope I’m wrong but cannot see him miraculously getting any better for us Philogene-Bidace is also having a good season tbd, albeit in the championship. I bet his emery only stats are better similar to Ollie

An expensive bench warmer at best when fit. Signed just when things went to shit, barely played under Gerrard. Then played every game when Unai came in last year. I’d imagine most including myself would have said the same about bailey. The way we play now, and the way teams are setting up against us now a player like Buendia would be brilliant 4

I don't recall us struggling against it so much last season and he's a big reason for that. Anyone who can't see that is a **** idiot frankly.

Popular Post avfc1982am
Can't wait for him to come back tbh. He would have been worth another several points on the board this season, and popped up with a few goals. The way he midfield has performed and the way he was looking pre season, he'd have been phenomenal this season.

Fan Vs elite manager … we all see different things in different players and have different opinions - one of the many joys of footy ! What do you see in Buendia then ? Popular Post sidcow Posted January 8 VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted January 8 (edited) It's not just about goals and assists. It's about the general use of the ball in front of the defensive block. All season long we've come up against the defensive line and turned back or passed sideways in front of it. He's constantly looking for ways through so i) he's involved in a lot of our good play making sure we have much more forward momentum. He's probably involved in the penultimate ball or the play that was the key moment of the attack that led to a big chance more than any other player which means ii) It's so much harder for teams to rely on a low block forcing them to play more than they currently do against us which in turn opens the game up more for us. Tom13
Let's not forget how many additional assists Emi could/should have had. Poor finishing cost him an assist on quite a few occasions. Also, as I've said many times, as much as Watkins gives us, Buendia doesn't thrive behind him. Different story with a different type of striker ahead of him. If Buendia and Watkins can somehow eventually click, we'd be very potent.
sidcow Posted January 8 VT Supporter Share Posted January 8 Even if you don't rate him for some weird reason. If nothing else think back to some of those games where we've been toiling against the low block recently. Now imagine bringing Buendia off the bench instead of Dendoncker. Now smile.
