I think Markie Meade is still fourteen, a year younger than Cole Ramsey, but has constantly played a year or two up.

International recognition in the lower age groups isn't the be all and end all either, obviously it's good when it happens and gives a good indication that those players are currently doing well, but those that don't get call ups can still go on to do really well within the academy, the likes of Kesler Hayden, Iroegbunam, Philogene, and Archer didn't get international call ups until they were established U21 players, in Archer's case he was even further along in his development having already played a lot of first team football.

We've got a few like Luka Lynch and Alfie Lynskey who as far as I'm aware haven't had any international recogntion, but both played a couple of ages up whilst U15s for our U18s, and Lynch was a regular this season for our U18s as an U16, so club obviously rates those two very highly.

I think if we can get the ones who peak early to gain recognition through the better coaching plus continue to work on the others who come through at a later time then the academy is doing its job of raising standards.

Turn the good into very good and turn the doing ok into doing well . Its as much as you can expect from any academy.

And when we do get another potential superstar coming through we will be in a position to maximise that talent.

Reports in Scotland saying we're prepared to let Nathan Dlamini go, Rangers and other Premier League clubs supposedly interested. We must think we will have better wide options for the U18s next season, Brannigan and Lynch will be first year scholars, Haywood will probably play an age up, maybe bring someone else in, I think Lynskey is a number ten type so can probably play wide as well, also there's Pavey who I wouldn't be surprised to see is one of those players that has a quiet first year as a scholar but then makes a big impression in second year, similar to Tommi O'Reilly.

Does Broggio play wide in a Grealish type of way as well ? I thought he was the more attacking player of him and Lynch . Difficult to get the right info at these age groups.

I forgot about him, yes from what I've seen he's a wide forward.

Ashton McWilliams, another who has international recognition, also plays either right-back or on the wing, not sure which of the two is his more specialist position, but he will be another option provided he signs scholarship terms with us.

I know we have to be quite ruthless as we need the space for younger players to come through.  This is my guess based on Birmingham Senior Cup performances mainly.

Charlie Lutz - Played very well at Alvechurch with a Hattrick - Definitely Keep.

Kobei Moore, Mikell Barnes  - release.

Todd Alcock - Plays regularly but I don't think is quite good enough for us. - Offer a One Year contract.

Luke Softley - One year contract offer.

Aaron O'Reilly - Much improved in the last few Months. New contract offer 1 or 2 year.

Sil Swinkels - Good player but not good enough for us.  Probably release.

Raiky, Lindley, Brad Young - All good players but lower division players - Release.

Revan - Another Year, Close to first Team, Needs to have a great season to get in the First Team Squad.

Declan Firth - Same as Seb Revan, Had a good season but needs to really push on.

Chisom Ofoka. Good player but not good enough. Reluctantly release.

Always hard to judge and probably none of these players will ever become Villa regulars.

Has there been any further updates on this?

Not as far as I'm aware, retained and released lists will be published around June or July time, but players will know well in advance of then. Last couple of years Birmingham Mail has reported earlier in the year on who is being released from academy, and have been accurate, so we might find out via them soon.

Aidan Borland costing Villa £1.2 Million. Crazy money.

1.2  mill with addons is being reported with  300k up front.

If he hits the heights then it will be a bargain. If he fades away its 300k  we have gambled and lost.
