Vinnie Hayward second youngest player to play in U18 league this season, was just fourteen and three months when he made his debut in February.

Who was the youngest and how old was he?

Harrison Miles of Southampton, fourteen and two months.

Alfile Lynskey is in the list as well, he made his debut same time as Hayward, at fifteen and one month, Lynskey was already playing for our U17s back in the autumn and that U17 team was made up mostly of first year scholars so was essentially a young U18 team rather than a U16 team.

Apologies, I thought you meant for us, does that make Hayward our youngest ever u18 player?

Ari-Jae Shaw has signed for Sheffield Wednesday, would have been a new scholar this summer if he'd have stayed. Now he's gone I'm not sure there will be much in the way of central strikers amongst the new scholars, so might be an area they look to strengthen from outside the club, as Wilson will I'm guessing will mostly be with U21s next season, and Lutz and Moore will be too old for U18s.

He was on trial with them, must have done well as according to his agent on instagram he's been given a one year scholarship and then a two year professional deal. As well as signing Dlamini and Dan Shaw Blackburn also had Ari-Jae Shaw on trial, so took a good look at some of the players we were prepared to let go, but as above Ari-Jae ended up signing for Sheffield Wednesday

With the two Shaws gone, I don't think we will have any specialist strikers amongst this summer's new scholars as it stands, so I think it's a very good chance that we will be signing a first year scholar striker as part of the recruitment.

In Egypt Cup Max Lott and Trav'varn Mulley played through the middle, but were more like 'false 9s' and in game against Vitoria Elijah Briscoe who I think is more of a traditional striker played, but is still a U15 and next season will be a U16, he might play an age up for the U18s, but with Wilson likely to be mostly with the U21s I imagine we will bring in another option.

We're sending a squad to play in the Hong Kong 7s later this month, so will be interesting to see who is involved in that.

Just watched the above mentioned Vitoria game, Briscoe didn't start as I thought, but did come on in the second half and score both goals in a 2-0 win, was very unlucky not to get an hat-trick right at the end, he and Cole Ramsey came on together and pretty much changed the game, Cole was heavily involved in both goals and looked very good generally. Other take aways from that game the left-back Ted Bloomfield that we signed from Ipswich looks a really good player, was very impressed with Theodore Carroll too, looks similar to Luiz in terms of style of play.

We've been drawn in a group with Rangers, Tai Po Football Club, and Yau Yee League Select for Hong Kong Soccer Sevens. Group games wil be played a week tomorrow, usually streamed on youtube.

I think I read that we're sending a U19 team, so will probably essentially be next season's U18s, might give some indication as to who has signed Scholarships, I think most U16s that have played an age up will sign, only doubt is Triston Rowe, so will interesting in particular to see if he goes.

Donhue Mitchell came over last weekend, was at Spurs game, not sure if he's definitely signing or just on trial, but might see him involved, although he will be too old for U18s, so I think he would be sent straight back out on loan or used as a stop-gap in U21s if any of the defenders at that level go out on loan.

Donhue Mitchell played for us yesterday in game against Vertex Soccer, don't know the score but from photos some of the others involved were Afoka, Munroe, Smith, Sturridge, Teddy Rowe, and McDowell.

Vertex Soccer I think are an academy based in US that specialise in picking up players released from European academies and finding them teams in US soccer system, so could be that potentially they were looking at some of our players with that in mind and from their instagram seems they've been going on a tour of English clubs.

Surprised to see Albion released Rico Richards from their academy today, was one of their most highly rated youngsters a few years back, in the past has been one I've wondered that we might try and get, but turns twenty in September so maybe a little old for our academy or U21s now.

Looks like squad for the Soccer Sevens was going to be

Kellyman, Aaron O'Reilly, Zych, Feeney, Smith, Patterson, Ted Rowe, Tommi O'Reilly, Frankie Ealing, Kadan Young

But Young won't be going now as he's away with England at the U17 Euros, not as many or as young a squad as I thought, as I forgot to factor in that the U16s will be finishing off their school years

Squad for Soccer Sevens has been confirmed as

Todd Alcock, Mikell Barnes, Frankie Ealing, I-Lani Edwards, Omari Kellyman, Jack McDowell, Tommi O’Reilly, Charlie Pavey, Edward Rowe, James Wright

Other than Wright, Alcock, and Kellyman, looks like we've gone with players who missed a lot of the season because of injuries.
