Limited study, needs peer reviewing and wider trials, but looks promising.

I spent a few years on beta interferons, Avonex and Plegridy. As promising as these results are, if the side affects are anything like I experienced, I'd take my risk with covid-19. I've never felt more ill than when I was when taking them.

But when im sick i stay in i don't go out.

The big problem here is you don't know you're sick when you've got Covid until it's too late.

That's literally the exact reason why masks are necessary.

The other part of the post was with regards to when i was ill pre covid 19 (should have specified really)

Out of curiosity, how do you know my mum would be treatable?

Or are you only thinking of your own survival here?

But again you couldn't really.

Covid's mortality rate and the fact you are infectious for weeks before you get symptoms (or indeed you don't show symptoms at all) means it's quite different than a lot of infectious viruses.

I would indeed say the same about any virus that killed those sorts of numbers of people. By the most conservative figures, covid 19 has killed 45,000 people in 4 months. We can potentially help stop that figure going up again by wearing a mask when in the company of strangers.

It doesn’t feel like an awful lot to ask, short term.

I know people die because of flu and heart attacks and falling down the stairs. It just feels like for a couple of months, in public, we could all contribute to killing off less mums. But it’s not even just deaths, we’re still finding out about all those long term side effects that will cost individuals and the health service for years to come.

I get that its quite a culture difference for people and it can be uncomfortable and inconvenient. I had to stand outside a shop and cool down on Saturday. But it cost me literally 2 minutes out of my day and there is a slight chance i might have stopped someone else’s mum dying of covid. It just feels like a reasonable precaution at the moment.

Chris i didnt say i wouldn wear one short term. Im basically saying if it becomes treatable like the flu when we dont see the large scale of people dying i dont really want to wear one of its not really neccesary. I wear it for 30 minutes and i feel so hot (Mediterranean DNA what can i say!)

I appreciate your points i have elderly grandmother (who i havent seen since jan as i am scared of passing on to her even though i had the virus back in march)

Realistically why is not mandatory to wear masks in hospitals before this virus came out?

If you knew some of the places I get to root around in, you’d wonder why its not mandatory that I always wear a mask!

I have a site visit tomorrow, it’s not going to be pleasant.

Waiter: How would you like your water, Sir?

Sir: Muddy.

https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/eid/article/26/5/19-0994_article
"Abstract: There were 3 influenza pandemics in the 20th century, and there has been 1 so far in the 21st century. Local, national, and international health authorities regularly update their plans for mitigating the next influenza pandemic in light of the latest available evidence on the effectiveness of various control measures in reducing transmission. Here, we review the evidence base on the effectiveness of nonpharmaceutical personal protective measures and environmental hygiene measures in nonhealthcare settings and discuss their potential inclusion in pandemic plans. Although mechanistic studies support the potential effect of hand hygiene or face masks, evidence from 14 randomized controlled trials of these measures did not support a substantial effect on transmission of laboratory-confirmed influenza. We similarly found limited evidence on the effectiveness of improved hygiene and environmental cleaning. We identified several major knowledge gaps requiring further research, most fundamentally an improved characterization of the modes of person-to-person transmission."

Well, imagine how dirty somewhere must be, if they have to spend £85,000 to have it cleaned enough to be allowed to demolish it!

Random coronavirus question that google doesn't clear up for me...

MOT's were given an extra 6 months extension. My MOT was due in May, so i have until November to get it done.

If i get it done now in July, is my MOT valid until July 2021, or from original date May 2020 to May 2021, or from extension date November 2020 to November 2021?
