If he is himself when answering questions, i.e. arrogant, dismissive, unrepentant, then it will just add more fuel to the fire. Most of the country haven't seen him in action - if they do (and he doesn't put on an act of being something other than he is) then they'll actually get to see just how much of an obnoxious piece of work he is. I guess we will see, but this is all a game for them. Predicting an attack on the media just to try and force the issue that the media are lying. All a game. Stevo985 Posted May 25, 2020 VT Supporter Share Posted May 25, 2020 Weirdly I’m not even that bothered about him resigning. I think he should, but it’s not that that’s pissing me off. It’s the lying and pretending he’s in the right. As annoying as it still would be, I think if he came out tonight and admitted what he’d done, said sorry but still didn’t resign I’d be a lot happier about it.

I'm not so sure that they are. It will be interesting to see what 'questions' he takes and from whom. I wouldn't be surprised if they're only one or two and they're from carefully selected sources.
bickster Posted May 25, 2020 Moderator Share Posted May 25, 2020 If Cummings is making a statement, nailed on he has no intention of resigning, nor is he being sacked. Last throw of the dice methinks

If he came out, admitted what he'd done and apologised then all he would be doing is selling yet another lie to everyone, i.e. being sorry. The issue now isn't really what he's done but that the top of Government are willing to set fire to the public health policy for the country in order to keep him in position and that the vast majority on a particular side of the modern culture war are willing to support each and every action their side (for that is where Cummings and Johnson are) takes. If it all works then the next time they'll be even more brazen and crass. This (the whole set up - not just this incident as it's just one step on a long journey) will not end well for the UK.
Popular Post chrisp65
What’s today? Day 3 of the story? I think they usually have to be the top story for about 5 days for people to finally throw in the towel. But I’m not expecting him to. In previous administrations there were clearly people who genuinely thought they were better than us and cleverer than us. But they also had their own code or moral compass, so eventually they would do what was to them the honourable thing. These guys are different, all they wanted was the power and the glory, they know they are superior, they won’t be giving it up after a few months when they don’t face an election for another 4 years. He’ll defend himself against half the story, but not the bits that don’t work for him. He’ll mention family. They’ll learn from their communication failings and they’ll probably even ‘get’ that we are confused by the rules. We’ll have a small reward, there will be some lifting of rules in England, but the word England won’t be used because they actually want the confusion to continue. They’ll use some bollocks like ‘this nation’ or ‘across this fine land of ours’ because this is all just jolly japes. Then he probably thinks that by tomorrow morning, as we all try to work out if we can use swimming pools or not, or sit outside a Wetherspoons, he can go back to being a nasty little arrogant bullying shit and run the country, unelected. Dodgyknees
Based on how they have been here are my predictions. - Fake news, media are the enemy - Something outrageous to turn that into the topic of conversation Basically, reframing.

The entire country locked down for nearly 3 months because of this government. The rank hypocrisy of this stinks. It could bring down the government. I mean, it won't because they are untouchable, but the seriousness of this could.

But it’s diverting away from all the things that really matter. I know there’s a lot of theories why Johnson is supporting him but we all know Cummings was the brains behind the Brexit referendum and I don’t think Johnson can do without him

If he came out and apologised now, how stupid would all those cabinet members and the PM look for telling us all he was right and acted with integrity. I think they're going to go on the offensive, trump style and appeal to the main base support while turning on the media.

At this moment in time yes... personally I think he should have resigned but It’s gone too far so unless this police investigation digs up something then he’s staying
