Think there was a 2/3 game run where Downing, Bent, and Young were England's front three that season too.

Should've been the front 3 for Euro 2012 too if Bent didn't get injured on Wigan's rugby pitch at the end of the 11/12 season.

What positions do you all still think needs picking up this summer?

My count is five:

GK

DC #1 (Mings?)

DC #2

DM

RW

Anyone have more/less?

I still think we need another striker, unless the RW is someone like Leao who can play both positions.

We shouldn't sign Phillips either from Leeds then. No point signing a lesser championship footballer over Hourihane.

I dunno, are we using the same stats? Average rating/goals/assists wasn't it?

Don't worry, it's cool, I'll just arrogantly remind you of this in 12 months.

He didn't really tear up the championship last season though. Nor was he our player of the season. Like your optimism though.

No, agreed he didn't and wasn't. But he will do and will be.

From March onwards, essentially the start of the 10 game run, he was our best player.

And all importantly, he has the attributes.

He FLIES past defenders.

Key.

I may have exaggerated slightly, he was *one of* our best players. Man of the match in the playoff final.

The desire to replace him is born of greed rather than realistic ambition IMO.

dead right son, we need to stick to the tried and tested method, i propose Austin, Puncheon and various other similar "Premiership hardened" players.

Get it done Deano.

You say Austin, someone who would cost a fortune and produce nothing yet shot me straight down when I suggested welbeck for free,  really

I have high hopes for Anwar this season but would love Bowen and Benrahma too. All about competition. I dont think that's greedy. Maybe a little...
