Alan Nixon said something is going into his Sun  column today regarding Villa

Maybe it's who the new CEO is?

Nixon is a north west reporter who specialises in Blackburn - he is not very reliable on villa news at all .

‘We do need a ceo pretty fast and Bruce has said the owner is looking to appoint one so hopefully things will be sorted soon

And hopefully the first thing the newly-appointed CEO says is, "We do need a new manager pretty fast and the owners and I are looking to appoint one, so hopefully things will be sorted soon".

As that would increase any payoff due to it being constructive dismissal it won't happen.

:crylaugh:That would be dependent on whether he says it five minutes after dismissing Bruce or five minutes before. I hope we appoint a CEO smart enough to opt for the former choice.

If (s)he says it after, then why would they say it at all?

This is the most important signing for the club imo.

After watching the All or Nothing - Manchester city series you can see how involved the Chairman is with the  CEO and director of football which then trickles down to the pitch.

Our owners are going to have to bring someone to the club that they can trust and have extensive football knowledge.

As much as i am not keen on Bruce.

A CEO and a DOF are going to be the ones that can critically assess Bruce and find a suitable replacement.

We just have to be patient on this one.

Sawris & Edens will not be mucking about. They want us promoted within two seasons.

? Ooh, now that's a hard one. Because we probably won't have a manager in post at that point?

So you'd expect a new CEO to waste their time telling us things that we would already know? Okay. I'd rather that they didn't say anything and got on with the job. I hope the new CEO never does an interview.

Personally don’t think it will be Kenyon but someone still working within Football. They probably want to stay at their respective club until after the transfer window. If it was  Kenyon or someone outside of football, you’d like to hope we would’ve been able to buy out their contract by now.

Whoever comes in will I hope be very experienced, and therefore probably well off and in need of a decent notice period to adjust what they are doing to concentrate on a club in the middle of England. Very happy for this to take time and be done properly. It's key to everything and we should know how wrong this can be got after the last few CEOs.

If he ever utters the words ‘Villa engine’ then we’re in big trouble.

Who says the owners would sack him without a plan? Do you think these guys are sitting twiddling their thumbs. Bruce has said that a new CEO is coming in within the next 2 weeks. These guys aren’t idiots like the last pair we’d had. Behind the scenes they’ll be in touch with a lot of football people, taking advice and putting things in place.

Thought this was better placed in here than the Bruce thread.....

At present, we don’t know that these people aren’t idiots. When Randy took over, we in the main were happy as he wasn’t Doug. When Xia took over again in the main we were happy as he wasn’t Randy. These could be the same, or they could be brilliant but for me it’s too early to make any kind of reasonable judgement on them as owners.

So who specialises on villa?

You are right, I am quietly excited, but after the let downs of Lerner and Xia I am waiting to see some action before I get too excited. The appointment of a good ceo will be a good start, but let’s see who they appoint first and what that brings to the table.

You’re right there is an element of anyone is better than the last bloke. But at least their credentials seem to be a big upgrade on Xia. Only time will tell, but we all hope for the best.

Aston Villa are expected to announce former Liverpool and Chelsea managing director Christian Purslow as their new chief executive.

The 54-year-old former Cambridge University and Harvard graduate played a pivotal role at Liverpool, renegotiating a £350m loan and opening the door for current owners Fenway Sports to take over from Tom Hicks and George Gillett.

He joined Chelsea in 2014 as head of global commercial activities and oversaw a number of deals including tie-ups with Nike, Yokohama, Wipro and Carabao.

Purslow left Stamford Bridge in 2017 and has since been working in the media.

Liverpool fans hate him and associate him with providing the worst spell of their club by getting rid of Benitez and hiring Hodgson...

Sounds like everton fans about Wyness. Why is it so hard in this game to get decent staff!!!
