France are pretty average and got no bottle. Struggled to a draw vs Luxembourg and lost to Sweden in qualifying and saw how they bottled the Euro 2016 final

might have a good generation of players on FIFA but have a poor manager and no shape especially with the Pogba problem

Well Big Eks return to managing Scotland must be one of the shittest games of the year. Ultra defensive 5-4-1 formation resulted in an absolutely dour 1-0 loss at home to Costa Rica in an empty Hampden (only 20,000 there, Capacity is 53,000). Mourinho was there to watch McTominay (he was shite but no worse than anyone else i guess) and must have thought that the way United play is like some sort of best ever highlight reel compared to the game tonight, Fair play to him for lasting longer in the stands than his player did on the pitch.

France 2-3 Colombia was an interesting one tonight, France were 2 up aswell. Amazing attack but their defence dosen't look that great.

I honestly think Griezman is a bit overrated, he doesn't really deliver at the very biggest stages, bottled the Champions League final, bottled the European Championship final. I feel like their biggest issue is mentality, and a shite defence.

I actually think this is a pretty good Colombia team btw, James always delivers for them, Falcao is in great form, Bacca and Murial are good player and Cuadrado is still to come back into the fold.

Could it be possible that Brazil might be a better team with Neymar out of it? They look a lot stronger than they were 4 years ago.

They played great in the second half of the qualifiers with Neymar in it. Neymar- Jesus-Coutinho were linking brilliantly and they've got huge experience at the back.

My favourites for the tournament. Big difference this world cup is they've actually got a decent coach for a change and not someone with tactics from the 1990s.

Fifa are looking into alleged racist abuse directed at France players during their 3-1 win over Russia.

The world governing body said in a statement they were "collecting the different match reports and potential evidence" of the discrimination.

Manchester United's Paul Pogba and Barcelona's Ousmane Dembele are said to be among those subjected to taunts.

The match was played at the Krestovsky Stadium in Saint Petersburg, a host venue at this summer's World Cup.

The former Premier League star has reportedly crocked his calf while playing in a prison kickabout

We are part of The Trust ProjectWhat is it?

According to Argentine daily Clarin, the 34-year-old striker tore a calf muscle in what was meant to be a friendly kickabout – and which could now rule him out for as long as a month.

The injury arose when Tevez visited a maximum security prison in Cordoba to see his brother Juan Alberto Martinez, who is currently serving a 16-year sentence for co-ordinating an armed robbery.

Tevez returned to Boca in January after an unsettled time at Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenhua which he labelled a "seven-month holiday". He has played 11 matches for the Bombonera club since, scoring three goals.

Luckily for the Argentine, he might have a bit more time to put his feet up now. Unluckily for him, Boca won't be best pleased about it.

World Cup 2026: Canada, US & Mexico joint bid wins right to host tournament

The 2026 World Cup will be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico after their joint bid beat Morocco's proposal to host it.

The 'United 2026' bid was selected by Fifa member nations, winning 134 votes compared to 65 for Morocco.

The 2026 tournament will be the biggest World Cup ever held - with 48 teams playing 80 matches over 34 days.

Both Mexico (1970 and 1986) and the United States (1994) have previously hosted World Cups.

Mexico will be the first nation to host 3 World Cups. And Canada will host their first. Technically :)

Assuming the hosts all qualify as hosts what the hell happens to CONCACAF qualifying exactly?

Also an expanded tournament but surely Canada wont end up top seeds in the group draw like hosts are now.

I call Canada joining South Africa on the list of nations that host and go out in the group stage now!

Good point.  Having 3 auto qualifiers is a right pisstake if that is the case.

The expanded tournament means the new qualification stuff kicks in. The all new play offs will get 2 slots.

Then (including hosts)

UEFA - 16
Africa - 9
Asia - 8
South America - 6
North America - 6
Oceania - 1

Gets us to 48.

According to wiki -

With co-hosting, the number of automatically qualified host countries will be decided by the FIFA Council.
