Villa Park redevelopment

An announcement cancelling the expansion closely followed by announcement confirming the next step on the way to station expansion. Something is very weird here!

It's all very odd. Announce a new investment partner specialising in financing capital projects, then cancel the expansion project a few days later. Club president hinting to fans that they can't spend £100m on players AND a new stand.

It's practically impossible to get a bus to or from villa park which makes the trains crazy busy. You'd think you'd run like 5/6 buses every 10 minutes for like an hour after the game to clear the people.

And have them go all around the city I should be clear.

The challenge I think with buses is you still have to get them from somewhere. To make a dent to 10000 fans you probably need to muster up 250 buses that aren't being used at any other point.

Then you've got to get those 250 buses somewhere to wait.

Then you've got to get them away from the ground at a reasonable pace for it to be worth it.

So glad I dont work in the transport industry. Fixing this problem feels pretty impossible.

You could argue the Trinity redevelopment, the new Witton Lane and the new Holte were bigger projects logistically because the North Stand is actually at the end of the ground least constrained, and with most space. Not having to build over a road, buy houses,  or figure out a tricky corner.

See, using such vague language means we are going to speculate.

Why do people keep commenting on lack of demand for this and that it's uneconomical.

Nowhere has Heck said this.

It was kind of implying this by his "adding too many seats too fast".

It could be that he was just talking about what the transport situation could accommodate, but certainly sounds like a concern about having seats they can't fill.

I guess after the warehouse is done they'll get an idea for reduced strain on public transport.

But in reality none of us have a clue what he meant as he definitely didn't give the real reason. New location? New stadium same location? Different New north stand?... no one knows

Could be totally wrong, but i'm starting to get a feeling that something more significant than first anticipated is on the way.

Yep, a terrible Americanised franchise style rebrand. That's all Heck is focused on, that and selling merch and "experiences".

Because Heck said we were 'adding too many seats too fast' which contradicts four years worth of evidence.

Qualified by the fan experience. I definitely took that to mean travel issues.
