That was a Chinese whisper. Literally. Thankfully Dr Xia is nowhere near our club and the current owners' aim is a more feasible 53,000.

Yeah that's because they inherited a state funded stadium. Had they stayed at Upton Park/the Boleyn ground the largest they could have got it would have been about 40-45,000 had they replaced the Chicken Run stand. OutByEaster? Posted December 21, 2022 Moderator Share Posted December 21, 2022 The club have talked about a phase 2 already, my memory is a little hazy on it, but it was with changes in the way the hospitality areas in the Trinity and other parts of the ground look in the stadium bowl (with a sort of standing gallery rather than just seating) and with changes in the Holte End that allow for better use of a lot of the storage spaces underneath the lower Holte, better access for trucks and some remodelling of the corner between Holte and DE - those changes aren't going to have a big effect on capacity, with a nominal increase. As of the last time the club talked about it, they don't have any plans in place to replace the DE stand, which would be the next change that would cause a jump in capacity. Could they remodel the space between the lower DE and Holte? Is is a bit of a mess at the moment with the DE sticking out which restricts some seats in the lower Holte. If access is not required from that corner once the North Stand is redeveloped just wondering if that is some possibility of squeezing in a few more seats. It would also complete the 'lower bowl' idea they seem keen on.
Demitri_C
Before we even contemplate 60k lets see if we can sell out 50k week in week out. I know purslow saying there is 20k WL for season tickets but im not so sure. So of those 20k are prob members who get tickets via that way
The Fun Factory
Also timing for the possibility of the euros in 2028 would have to be considered for any theoretical stage 3 redevelopment. As that was one of the reasons why Villa have started on this project. If we hopefully get permission then they can crack on with the North Stand for the next 18 to 24 months. You would think they would then have a pause before going to stage 2. That could be about 2025-26 already. That would probably be enough time for some minor capacity upgrades but not for a whole new stand. Which I would suspect have more objections given its location to housing on Witton Lane, and the road itself. Chindie Posted December 22, 2022 VT Supporter Share Posted December 22, 2022 I genuinely didn't even know Rosie's was gone. Then again I've not been into Sutton proper in about 6 years.

choffer Posted December 22, 2022 VT Supporter Share Posted December 22, 2022 Quote I do not believe the club could have done more to consult with local residents. This is the model of a well executed consultation. (Slightly paraphrasing.)
