He's a very rich man who is married to an unbelievably wealthy woman whose family made their money in IT, and he has a house in California he likes to visit, so I can't say it's surprising to me that he is obsessed with every stupid and crooked idea to come out of the nexus of tech and finance in the US. Him being mad keen on NFTs is completely natural. The funny thing, of course, is that since the tech bubble has largely popped since last spring, and since basically every high-profile SPAC has turned into a shit investment at best, and an embarrassing disaster at worst, we no longer hear about Sunak's big plans to make the UK more 'SPAC-friendly'. Sunak's love of NFTs might well go the same way, and frankly it would be best if it does turn out to just be a passing fad. In other news today, the Tories plan to privatise Channel 4.
