Informal investigation at work

Yes, taking a respected colleague in - fairly sure he's been a "friend in the room" before.

My main line of argument is that their most recent post (i.e the one that caused the issue to be raised) is dated 29th June, but whoever gave them the 'history' of posts has gone back to May 2014 - clearly these were not an issue at the time, as they were never raised (which in itself breaks the social media policy as it clearly states an employee must report anything they see) and they will have been seen by store managment as I had/have the Assistant Manager who is currently on maternity leave, both current team leaders and a team leader who has been on maternity since october on my friend list, yet none of those deemed things offensive enough to report. Also, whoever collated the posts has ignored the positive work-related posts and printed things off to suit their claim - so i will be using the words "agenda" and "victimised"

I also intend on calling the current assistant manager as a witness (he my line manager before he was promoted) because unless he lies then he will attest to how stressful my role can be and that i had raised concerns about some things that have been ignored by management which has raised my stress, and i may also call one team leader so i can ask why my previous postings from May '14 onwards were never highlighted if they are such an issue now

Snowy has nailed the take someone in stuff perfectly.

So.....  things to say/do.

1) Don't blame anyone else

2) Don't say "That one was tame - you should see what else I've said about the company on the internet"

3) Don't claim an agenda or victimisation you just look like a nutter.

4) Apologise.

5) Play up the stressful stuff. You were very busy. You were venting frustration. Out of work pressures (make some up if there are none) had an impact and clouded your judgement.

6) Highlight previous good character - quotes from appraisals or performance reviews will assist you here.

7) Plan what you're going to say and your "defence" in advance. Write it down. Don't walk in and wing it.

8) Wear a suit - look smart.

9) Just in case, take a suitcase full of semen and monkey shit, maybe a few children's paintings.. you just, never, know.

Pretty much did that - barring the monkey shit...

Adjourned so the HR lady (who is fit) and the other store manager (who isn't) could deliberate and on our return they said they wanted more time. Not sure what to make of that. Guy i took in with me is confident though.

Got an interview lined up for Wednesday for a job I applied for Monday evening, so worst case is hopefully covered

Sounds promising.

Go for the interview. Get the job. Immediately resign regardless of the outcome - and hope the reference they give doesn't shaft you on the way out.

Was sacked over the phone after 7 years which is a slap in the face, but there we are.

So you had a disciplinary hearing which was adjourned then reconvened just to tell you they wanted more time but really they wanted to wait until you'd got home so they could sack you over the 'phone?

I'd be surprised if that were as per their procedures.

It's not Morrisons that you work for is it? Sorry, used to work for.

Also, I may have missed it but were you suspended on full pay?

If you worked at Vision Express in Birmingham Bullring i dont blame you for vitriolic outbursts.

The staff / customer service levels there are on par with Fabian Delph's morale fibre. (Dreadful).

Its rubbish in the end, admittedly we only have your side of the story, but it stinks like old cheese. If of course you posted on facebook my manager needs a good raping, then maybe it was gross misconduct, other wise it seems that either the express people, or the savers people are making this shit up as they go along.

You may well have a bit of free time on your hands even if you get the new job so why not?

You may as well - at least to check with someone there that they think they've followed all of the procedures properly.

As Seat says, we've only got your side of the story (though that has had you appear to be pretty honest with accepting what you did was wrong and so on) but it would be surprising if yesterday's process was completely kosher.

I don't know about the company in question but most companies I've come across usually inform the outcome of hearings via letter. Gutted for you that it's turned out this way but I have a funny feeling you will look back at this as a blessing.
