Everton were top 5 last season and spent £28m on a single player in the summer. Unfortunately there's a gulf between the clubs right now

Yes there is. But this can't be the excuse every time we bend over and receive a shafting from a team that may have more expensive players than us.

How long till we conclude that Benteke was a 1 season wonder?

Is that a serious point?
He has been poor since the end of the first season. Not a knee jerk reaction to this game, a genuine point. He hasn't looked good since 2012.
2012? Seriously?

Oh look a third, another depressing Saturday evening. Anfield feels a long time ago now, doesn't it?

Yes. 2013 looked average at best and then got a long term injury. Looks a shadow of the confident 'beast' prowling in that first season.

From January 13 to the end of that season only Ronaldo and Messi scored more goals in the top flight. He then had a few injuries, struggled to settle, when he did around the turn of last year he then ruptured his achilles.

It was very likely that we would lose all 5 of these games. We've picked up 3 points from them, and haven't lost to anybody outside last seasons top 5 yet. Let's see how the QPR game goes, and whether we can put up a fight against Spurs before aimlessly throwing round comments like "worse than last season" "relegation form" "Lambert running out of time"

Since it's equally true everytime, why can't it be used everytime. I understand your frustration, but not your logic

Everton were always in a false position at the bottom of the league.

And so were we near the top of it.

Make no mistake this season will go the same as the others.

A massive massive struggle.

Still poor defensively and absolutely zero goal threat in us.

And Is been like this through all of Lamberts reign.

It's not really an excuse, it's just reality

I think you will find it is worse than last season and our opposition so far is comparable. A minus 8 goal difference after 8 games is not good and neither is 11 goals conceeded without reply in the last 4 games.
