TrentVilla Posted June 22, 2014 Author Moderator Share Posted June 22, 2014 Various twitter idiots are claiming its fallen through. Worth a punt for them given the delay, when it goes ahead they will claim the problem was over come. I still expect this to happen and have no reason to think it won't.

rodders0223
Good news, A ruthless winner on the coaching staff is just what we need but not as much as we do on the pitch, Get your boots on Keano. Fixed. Fixed.
briny_ear
Good news, A ruthless winner on the coaching staff who has failed in his subsequent managerial career and was criticised by Sir Alex Ferguson for bullying his team mates at Man U is just what we DON'T need. Fixed. Re-fixed. Can't really believe that anyone believes this appointment - if made - is going to work out. Just look at who's making the appointment for starters.
Ulver
I'm now clinging to the hope this isn't going to happen. Whether that's because we're being sold, Lambert's off or a combination of all I don't really care Roy Keane has, to my eyes at least shown absolutely NOTHING as a coach/manager to warrant the job full stop If he'd been showing promise in this field by all means, but he hasn't. The only thing people wanting him seem to have is 'he's a winner'. Well no, he WAS a winner under a GREAT manager and in a GREAT team. He himself has been pretty much a loser since he tried to take on managing since he gave up playing. It's a totally different world to playing and one he doesn't strike me as having the tools for. We have a footballing 'winner' in the managerial seat now and look at the **** mess he's made of things.
AndJo
Really can't understand why this hasn't happened yet? Surely it must of fallen through? Its been weeks since we first heard about it
DCJonah
Seems strange for it not too happen yet. Like others I'm clinging to some hope that the delay is takeover related.
jim
I would imagine he is waiting on more takeover details. Wouldn't want to commit himself if potentially he could be out of job if new owners decide to bring in their own people.

One would hope that this possibility may have been spoken about during the 'availability' conversation ? It's not exactly a secret is it.... decavfc
Like most I am still quite unsure on the prospect of Keane coming here as assistant. Has done nothing of any note as a manager, but he does have a big reputation and maybe able to pass something on to our squad.

Hopefully more than Scott Marshall, our defensive 'specialist' coach, who managed to make poor defenders really dreadful. I had no clue how this clown got this gig, until I realised he was related to Gordon Marshall, the Celtic keeper who is a mate of Lambert's......'good old pals'
mykeyb
It really doesn't come as any surprise that Lambert would actually think that Keane would be the answer to all our coaching woes.
Papillon
I am glad he hasn't been signed yet, I really don't want him around our club. He was a ruthless winner and a psychopath on the pitch, but he was allowed to be one because the team won trophies. As a manager and a leader he has since been worthless. He would definitely create a lot of trouble and alienate players, then bugger off when everything goes tits up. He would never care about this club - and especially not when we have so many poor players (and a lot of losses/bad mood) around the club.

Just reviewed it, granted just on Wiki. The Sunderland entry ends with Keane’s harsh management style was not appreciated by the Sunderland players, who were reported to have celebrated when they heard he had resigned. This was with Sunderland in 18th place in the league. I certainly can't find anything in there to make me warm to the man or the manager that is Roy Keane. Whatever his role may be at Villa park, I don't want him here, he is a bully and really would not give a crap about the club. I can't think how his appointment would help in the long term.
