AshVilla
When will people realise that it is not the players and it is the MANAGER We have no cutting edge whatsoever the system we play is not working and he refuses to change it! We play just as bad as we did under McLeish....

HongKongVillan Posted December 26, 2013 VT Supporter Share Posted December 26, 2013 As much as I have lost faith in pl I would rather Lerner to leave for someone else more capable of running the football club than sacking pl. although I won't shed a tear if pl gets the sack though

Only because it means he doesn't have to fly over and deal with that embarassing mid-life crisis purchase he made. The bloke just isn't interested in Villa anymore. Jarpie
When it's not clearly working, it's time to change the man. We're not tactically any better than we were under McLeish.

tomh621
Jesus **** christ. Unfortunately i didn't get the watch the game as i was visiting family but managed to catch live text updates. No better than last year and we can't even beat teams like Crystal Palace. HOW?! Lambert can't get that team to win and i know they can do better. They're playing BORING football and he isn't learning from mistakes. Goes and does the same thing every week. I understand Benteke isn't there but cmon, this is a joke 4th defeat in a row and we can't even score at home. Dreading watching the highlights to be honest and Lambert is asking for the sack. On one hand i feel bad because Lerner clearly isn't interested in Villa any more and just wants his money back so doesn't give any Lambert leeway. I honestly think Lambert could do well with a proper owner and good funds but then thats just it isn't it? This is what being a manager is. Cant just have all the money in the world because that proves nothing - just shows you can BUY a good squad. Then on the other side I'm thinking i know we should and HAVE to beat the teams below 9th. Let alone relegation candidates and newly promoted teams. Everything needs to do better i guess. Lambert i playing boring football, the team needs a kick up the arse, and Lerner needs to either put out and realize he's bought a football club not a casino or just **** off. LondonLax
I think a lot of you would be in for quite a shock with the caliber of manager we would attract if we sacked our manager mid season and offered the replacement no money to rebuild the squad in their image. Papillon
We're in the shit with or without him really. He came up alongside Martinez and Rodgers, but unlike those two he cannot get us to play a certain type of football. It all just reminds me of the 1980's style of attacking, we just kick it up and hope that someone will put it in back of the net. Almost all of our games are woefully boring to watch, epitomized by the fact that we have 36k people in the stands on Boxing Day! Pathetic, the club is officially in the first stage of a crisis. He could have been sacked during last season, he could have been sacked after the season and the question will come up now. The problem is that if we sack him, the new guy coming in inherits all the dross Lambert has purchased the last two seasons. Players who are not even fit to play for a mediocre team in the Championship in my honest opinion. We are three points above relegation, and I am sorry to say, we must be the weakest team in the Premier League right now. 4 straight losses, a few weeks ago we went four straight games without even scoring a single goal. Lambert is working under constraints, but it has to be said that we are underperforming. We don't create chances, the players don't look like they give a damn and none of our "stars" are on form. It shows what would have happened last season; without Benteke we would have been relegated easily. The only "positive" thing is that the window opens in one week and our need for strengthening is huge.
AshVilla
More long balls than any other team Less possession than any other team except palace who slaughtered us today Yet Lamebert is such a brilliant manager lets stick with him and hope for the best Everyone hang on championship here we come Edited December 26, 2013 by AshVilla
P3te
This is our squad: Guzan Steer Given Baker Bennett Clark Donacien Luna Lowton Okore Vlaar Nzogbia Bacuna El Ahmadi Marc Albrighton Ashley Westwood Chris Herd Yacouba Sylla Gary Gardner Aleksander Tonev Nicklas Helenius Andreas Weimann Gabby Agbonlahor Christian Benteke Libor Kozak Should that squad be doing better and is there another manager out there who would be able to change things using those players? Honestly if the answer is yes to both, Lambert needs to go. If not, he needs to stay
Denis_B
Lerner mus go but that isn't going to happen before the end of the January winodow or the end of this piss poor season. Short term we need someone to give this lot a kick up the arse and a basic coaching lesson - how come PL talks such sense as a pundit yet turns out this shite week in and week out? nobler
I think the manager could be doing better with the budget he had, an unpopular opinion but it's how I feel. Maybe it's an old fashioned concept but I think you can put together a tight, organised unit that can grind out results, even if the quality isn't too great. The junk he bought in the summer has been so ineffective, I've never known anything like it. I don't even know what we are at the moment. To firmly put 100% of the blame at Lerner when we've seen for an 18 month period how the manager has completely struggled, and just looking unbelievably out of his depth, tactically, to get the team performing to even a mildly acceptable level at home is being pretty blind. I think for such a young manager the job has simply become too hard for him, pressures that he's just unable to deal with. He's really, really lost at the moment.
