Given my experience with our FreeLander 2 I'd avoid those like the plague as well. Wonderful car to drive, superbly comfortable. Built and assembled by chimps. You say the Evo has 'beaten' you. In what way? Financially I assume? Insurance? Maintenance? They've stupidly low service intervals don't they? Like 3,000 miles or something mental like that. They've stupidly low service intervals don't they? Like 3,000 miles or something mental like that. yeah financially, knew it would need work and had put a few hundred into it and then the balance belt snapped. i had the timing belt kit including balance belt waiting to be fitted but the garage was booked up a week ahead. the belt snapped and wrapped around the timing belt which knocked out the timing and damaged valves. need a head rebuild including new head gasket and timing belt. cost about 1500. after all that it stil failed the nct and needed about another 400 to get through it.i had enough though and got a straight swop for the civic. insurance premiums going up in ireland too on cars older then 15 years old so said id get out when i could. completely unlucky with the belt sitting there waiting to be fitted. they are a money pit and servicing is recommended that often and with the ayc (active yaw control) you must stay on top if it

The looks and refinement of a Jag with the off road capacity of a Land Rover. Perfect formula. Imagine if they bought out an equally good lookjng but small evoque sized version... stegzy
Does anyone have experience with the Discovery 3?. I'm thinking about replacing my Honda CRV with one. I would love the 4 but they're just too expensive for me as it is only my second car, used mainly for work. I know they are underpowered but hoping after a re map it should be ok. The other possibility is a Jeep Commander but I think my missus has her heart set on the Discovery. Would be interesting to hear from anyone that's owned one to find out more about reliability and cost of parts and such.
turnbull
F Pace is a silly name, should have called it the F-Off Road. Agreed, seen plenty at work, in certain specs, they're stunning. They'll sell no doubt, but they'll hit Sport sales I reckon. 5 minutes ago, stegzy said: Does anyone have experience with the Discovery 3?. I'm thinking about replacing my Honda CRV with one. If you're going as far back as a Disco 3, you'll need to make friends with a LR specialist. There's a lot of electronics on there that TBH will be at the age when the trouble will start. Can you stretch to an XC60/90?
Stevo985 Posted January 22, 2016 VT Supporter Share Posted January 22, 2016 Yep, F-Pace is a lovely car. Rumour has it they're gonna be on the management scheme at work. More motivation for that next promotion

Can you stretch to an XC60/90? Cheers. I'm looking to go up to about £10,000 and for that I would probably get about a 2007/2008 model with about 115,000 miles on the clock. I am not too keen on the XC90 and it doesn't look quite as big as the Disco. The load area is quite important as I have to carry quite a bit of stuff at times. tonyh29
I'm tempted by one must admit.. My problem is the main models look under powered and the 3.0 litre starts at £51k which seems a bit heavy !! With nothing in between engine size wise Edited January 23, 2016 by tonyh29

Didn't Clarkson (many moons ago) say that because of the transverse engine, the Volvo was roomier inside?

I don't get any change out of that for my A3, and that doesn't include tax and insurance.
