  1. Barry and Jedinak would again be the slowest CM pairing in the league. I mentioned Will Hughes yesterday but I agree he's extremely unlikely to end up at Villa. A player in his mould would be great though, along with another midfielder capable of passing a football more than 5 yards. Huddlestone would do the job, but I think we could attract better, younger players than him. Loaning Jenkinson as a right back would be good for us, in fact a couple of loan deals would be great for the other positions we could do with filling (after CM's). The less contracts we dish out now whilst we are a Championship standard team the less players we will need to move on when they are found out at Premiership level (i.e. Jedinak, Elphick) Promotion is a must though and the only target this season, and so whatever Bruce & Xia go with I have faith in! This is the one of the first January window's I am genuinely excited by!
  2. I also want to know who voted for Jedinak as MOTM...
  3. Watching Derby vs Blues today and Will Hughes is the exact type of midfielder we need. Great with the ball at his feet, can pass it well and isn't scared to drive forward. He also doesn't shy from a tackle. Would be more than pleased if we can get hold of him.
  4. If he doesn't want to leave then keep him. If Tony is going to turn down that sort of money it just proves how serious he is, and how much money he actually has. Amavi was poor yesterday but he will become a world class left back over the next few years.
  5. Brilliant stuff! Get McCormack firing and Jack playing regularly prior to ACON and we will be fine.
  6. Bacuna would be my MOTM yesterday, yes he's not the best midfielder in the world, and we should be looking to bring two strong midfielders in January... but yesterday he did a job that no one else is currently doing. I would have Bacuna in the side over Gardner or Westwood everyday of the week. And once the midfield is sorted I would move him to right back until we either buy someone else or get De Laet back. Just because he isn't the player we want in the midfield no one can deny that he had a good game for us yesterday.
  7. The main surprise for me there is Ayew only having scored 9 goals for us! So poor!
  8. I would love us to bid for Delph, offer him a huge contract... then the day of confirming the deal Tony Xia turns round and say's 'actually I've changed my mind'
  9. One of the worst keepers at VP... What a deluded statement... Guzan last season was a lot worse for a start... He's just a young keeper who made a couple of mistakes at the start of the season. Since then he has been very good. He could possibly do with an experienced keeper alongside him to help him reach his full potential.
  10. Forgiven He was indeed, we could do with a player like that at right back now!
  11. First priority is 2 center midfielders who can get about and most importantly pass a football to its intended target. Fixing the midfield is the make or break for our season in my opinion. Its currently losing us points purely from losing us possession and not creating enough for the forwards. Any other positions we strengthen can be considered a bonus.
  12. You realise he hasn't played in the Premier League since 2013?
  13. Bacuna has looked our best option at right back, and one of the best options in midfield this season though which is why people want him back in the side. Bacuna over Hutton or Westwood every day of the week for me. Granted he's not the greatest player in the world but currently he's one of the better players we have in those positions.
  14. Gollini Bacuna Chester Baker Amavi Jedinak Tshibola Westwood Adomah McCormack Kodija Subs: Sarkic, Elphick, Cissokho, Gardner, Ayew, Grealish, Gestede
  15. This for me. He was poor last night, but he isn't a left winger. We bought him in to be our striker, and so far he is our top goal scorer. Yes he was poor against Wigan when playing up front but every striker has an off game, especially at this level. He need's to be able to think right I was poor there next game i'll be up front again and i'll turn in a better performance. If he's not getting the service he need's to be able to say look lad's I need you to start playing the ball into this channel here, play it to feet here, swing balls in early for me... but he can't because the next game he's being moved out wide to accomodate Gestede, Ayew, Gabby... As much as I like what Bruce has done since he's come in we've once again turned back to playing players out of position and it's just not working. Yes we have no left winger in our squad, but we have enough players capable of filling in there without moving our best striker there. Rant over...
  16. There's about as much chance of Gabby driving past a MacDonald's drive thru as there is us reaching the playoffs this year. To get anywhere in this league you have to string wins together and its just something we aren't capable of doing with such an inept squad of players. And even if we did manage to get into and win the playoffs, imagine this team back in the Premiership... even with a few signings it would be a massive struggle once again.
  17. This bloke is a joke, it's and embarrassment that Bruce has given him another chance. We may as well start a game with 10 men.
  18. I desperately wanted him to stay in the Summer, I now hope we can sell him in January. Looks like he doesnt care, tries to do it all on his own. Useless. Sell him and use the funds for an actual winger.
  19. I just hope we don't setup a defensive draw because we are away and because Norwich are promotion favorites. We shouldn't be scared of anyone in this division and should setup to attack in each and every game. If we can go at them early and grab an early goal the crowd will soon turn and make their players jobs harder (a bit like us last season )
  20. Whilst it would be interesting to see Gil play with better players around him at Villa (the likes of Kodjia, McCormack, Adomah) I don't think its worth bringing him back. He's light weight and I don't think there is anything he can do that Grealish can't. Get rid in the summer and move on.
  21. Have to admit I missed the Wigan game as I was away. I heard Ayew was poor which is why I mentioned moving Jack out wide, but it sounds as if he is fully capable in the middle. I have been looking forward to McCormack coming back for a while now as I think playing with Kodjia & Grealish will see him hit form. I like it!
  22. Gollini Hutton Elphick Chester Amavi Jedinka Bacuna Westwood Adomah Grealish Kodjia I am guessing Baker is still injured for this one Would move Grealish outside and bring in an additional centre midfielder for this one as I think we could be overun. Bacuna will be more of a driving force than Gardner. 3-0 Villa, top of the league here we come
  23. In some ways its our fault that he isn't living up the hype, I think the 'Super Jack Grealish' chants have gone to his head a bit and he almost thinks he's the best player in our side. For a number 10 or winger one goal in 20 games or an assist every 10 games is pretty poor... No doubt about it though, the last 2-3 games he has started to show the promise he had when he initially broke into the team under Sherwood. If we can sort a position in the first team for him to have a run of consecutive games over Christmas we will hopefully start to see the best of him. Then come January with an improved midfield behind him he will step up to the level he's currently playing at for the England U21s
