  1. This just proved to us all how many million miles away we are from challenging for promotion in this league. We are in serious trouble this season and relegation is now a real danger.
  2. Nah, away at Newcastle the aim was always to press and frustrate them. Defend well and hit them when possible. Defensively we have done well apart from the goal. We just need to improve going forward now.
  3. Bjarnason has worked hard, tackled well but his final ball is poor. Kodjia is our best player but is wasted on the left, he also can't link up with Hogan. No-one is playing the ball to Hogan where he wants or needs it. He only receives the ball with his back to goal. Hourihane is invisible. Jedinak is the man we have been missing.
  4. I like it, it's different which is what was required. Hopefully the full backs can just defend and not worry too much about getting forward, but this means we are going to have to play quite narrow unless Bjarnasson & Kodjia pull out wide at times. Great to see Jedi back. I would happily take a 0-0 here.
  5. Sorry, it seem's a few of us don't realise that internet forums are only allowed positive comments, even when your team has lost the last four games and are closer to relegation than promotion.
  6. Well this is quick even for us! The classic player out of the squad becoming our savior and the player we desperately need.
  7. Unfortunately this is all based on assumptions that a manager can replicate their past success with Villa. We assumed RDM would change our fortunes as he has achieved promotion before and won the Champions League... that didn't work We assumed Bruce would change our fortunes as he has achieved promotion numerous times... so far that hasn't worked A new manager would have new ideas, a new backroom staff and yes this could work. But we have had so much change at the club over the past few years that the logical explanation for our current decline is too much change too quickly. Changing manager at this stage would go against that logical explanation and fix. With all that being said, with our current run of form I can't see us doing much harm to ourselves replacing Bruce, it's not like a new manager coming in and losing a few games is going to make much difference to what most of us expect to happen over the next few games.
  8. Completely agree with your post and all of @ViewFromT2 's post If a change of management is what we go with we need to bring in someone with a plan and a footballing philosophy that he can relay to the players and we can use for the next few years at least. Huddersfield are a prime example of this working, Wagner knows what he wants to do and has implemented it from day one. Now look at them, they are in the position that we should be this season.
  9. He's spent the morning on the phone to Randy Lerner asking for his money back.
  10. MON was given a transfer budget & wage budget and spent it. The owner allowed him to do that, at the end of the day he's a football manager not a business accountant. Under MON we were a striker away from Champions League football, had that happened the whole Aston Villa story could now be completely different. Unfortunately we didn't make the Champions League and the poor running of the club from the top became evident starting the rot that is still ongoing.
  11. Seemed like there were more catering staff than fans at the ground last night, yet it still took 10 minutes to get a pint with no que. It's almost like they don't want my money.
  12. He's put those goals out, as unrealistic as they seem, but backed them in exactly the way he said he would. I can't see any reason at all to blame Tony Xia for the clubs shortcomings this season. What more are you expecting him to do? Lace his boots up and become the attacking midfielder spraying balls in to Kodjia & Hogan?! The club has been let down by two managers, the coaching staff, and the players. All of whom are experienced in the game and should be performing much, much better than they currently are. The only light at the end of this tunnel at the moment is the owner of our club.
  13. The problem there is Wagner isn't going to leave a club he's managed to get into playoff contention to join a team battling relegation
  14. Unfortunately we've already discovered Adomah can't play as a wing back, Bacuna would be a better option in that formation in my opinion. He can defend well and also deliver a better cross (see 14/15 and the amount of crosses he put in that Benteke benefited from)
  15. Haha im only joking mate I'm not looking forward to tonight at all. Half wish I had decided to take the missus out instead!
  16. Bunn Bacuna Chester Baker Amavi Hourihane Lansbury Adomah Grealish Kodjia Hogan Comfortable 2-0 win Hang your heads in shame if you are putting Valentine's Day before the Villa
  17. Although I don't agree that Sherwood would have us much further up the table, I would agree that we would be a lot more of an attacking team that would probably be more entertaining to watch. I for one would rather watch us lose but have a go than lose with a poor performance to go along with it. In saying that, I would rather we won games, so we now just have to hope Bruce can get this team set up correctly to do this.
  18. The one thing I don't get about Steve Bruce... Surely he has a preferred formation that he wants to use at the club in order to get us promoted. He then gets to January, he can sell who he likes, he can buy who he likes. Why not go into that window and buy players around the formation that he wants to play.?Players that fit into his plan and better the team. Instead we have come out of January with a larger squad of players, but no idea how to utilise them in a first team. It's like RDM all over again. If Jedinak coming back from injury is key to unlocking the midfield and letting Hourihane and Lansbury play further forward, why not buy another defensive midfielder in January as he surely knows that Jedinak can't play every game in a Championship season?
  19. I'll try a chicken balti pie tomorrow, gives me something to look forward to...
  20. I'll give the weekend league a go next week when I can qualify again, haven't really used that feature this year. I've got a good team based on the Bundesliga it's just managing to get hold of the elite players that i'm struggling with. Last year the prices of players seemed to be a lot lower, although it's much more competitive this year when not everyone has a team of the best players.
  21. With Jedinak injured I would be inclined to bring Bacuna into the midfield instead of Bjarnason Johnstone Bree Chester Baker Amavi Lansbury Hourihane Bacuna Adomah Hogan Kodjia Subs: Bunn, Elphick, Taylor, Gardner, Bjarnason, Green, RHM
  22. That team is insane, how did you manage to get some of these players? I have around 70k coins now from trading but every pack I get just gives 78-80 rated players that are worth 1k or so.
  23. I'm not a smoker, and don't really care about smokers But could they re-open the smoking area's so that I don't have to give myself cancer when I fancy a half time wee Thanks
  24. Johnstone Bree Chester Baker Amavi Jedinak Hourihane Lansbury Adomah Hogan Kodjia Subs: Bunn, Elphick, Taylor, Bacuna, Bjarnasson, Green, RHM
