I think the club will announce any signing as soon as it's done, I'm sure they are aware of the fans frustration with this window so far. Hoping Lansbury is announced today at least, would be nice for Hourihane as well ready for Saturday though. Then gives us a week to tie up any other deals we have in the pipeline as well as sorting the striker situation. Bit of extra time for Bruce now the Bristol City game has been postponed.

I don't really get the whole RHM contract saga... his current deal is expiring so realistically he is free to leave if he likes. We haven't exactly given him a reason to stick around, championship football, playing some of the worst football we have played in years, yet he still hasn't been given a chance. I watched him in pre season and he was really good. Granted the opposition were poor but Agbonlahor played in the same game and didn't do anything. Until we get a new striker in I would play RHM over Gabby and see how he gets on.

We can talk about Gestede all we like but the way we played on Saturday, even if we had Kodjia up front instead of Gabby we wouldn't have won that game. Yes we need a striker (Gabby & McCormack are useless), but the midfield is our main issue and needs fixing this week. Gestede was a cart horse, we got a great deal for him. Hopefully the club have a plan in place for sorting the striker issue this week also.

The fact that an Olympiakos scout has left Villa Park with the view the Aly Cissokho had a good game and would be a good signing for his club makes me feel better about our own attempts at signing players...

Just pay the fees for both players and get them in asap. It will then give us two weeks to have a look for a left winger which is desperately needed in this side. Over the last few weeks I have been against signing a striker thinking that McCormack will come good but after yesterday it just proves that he really never will do it for us. If we can get a striker in, either from abroad of someone like Hernandez then it will help us next season. In my opinion this season is now over and we need to start building for next year and go at it as Newcastle & Brighton have this year. Summer needs to be spent getting rid of the deadwood and remaining player with a losing mentality (Westwood, Hutton, Bacuna, Gardner, Agbonlahor) and upgrading as many positions as we possibly can. We need to be poaching the best players from sides that miss out on promotion this year, there are some good players in this league and if you throw enough money at them they will come and put this club back where it should be.

At least we have a new midfield sorted nice and early ready for this game... Oh wait...

I would rather we offer 3 Million for Hourihane and get him in over the next few days than let this window drag on any further waiting on CM's. We need them in as soon as possible! I would also be inclined to sack off Lansbury and move on to the next target. I really thought we had prepared for this window in December so that we could move players in as soon as the window opened ready to get the points on the board required for the playoffs. Saturday is now another game where our midfield options include Westwood, Bacuna & Gardner...

Benteke is not going to drop down to the Championship this season. Our best hope is that we go up, Palace go down, and Tony then goes after Benteke... I can't see him coming back myself as much as I would love it.

Glad to see we have 7-8 targets and are expecting 3-4 to be brought in... shows we have backup options in place in case we don't get the intended target.

I agree with this, if we can put together a midfield capable of playing 4-4-2 during this window then a front two of Ayew & Kodjia could be lethal.

This would be such a Villa thing to do, in our quest to bolster the midfield to supply our striker more effectively we exchange our striker for a midfielder.

When he was at Villa he created a lot of goals for himself in a very poor side.

We don't need another striker, we need a midfield that can create for the strikers we already have. Buying new strikers every transfer window isn't going to fix the main problem that has been staring us in the face for the past 5 seasons... the midfield. Kodjia & Benteke have both scored goals for us because they have the ability to create for themselves, but we shouldn't be depending on this.

For me he was good today, with a more experienced midfielder by his side who can also pass and move with the ball he will be even better. Can't understand the criticism myself. He's a step up on Westwood & Gardner everyday of the week!
