Interestingly of our next 6 games, we won 5 of those equivalent fixtures last season, and they're very tough games on paper. I think differently to last season, we havent been as good against the top sides for whatever reason. Those results against Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal etc. We havent been able to repeat so far.

Like others have said though. It feels like theres a big difference between finishing 9th and 13th. 9th has that knocking on the European door feel about it. Also momentum ahead of next season is important. It would be good to get as close as we can to 7th and 8th. I do agree though, like yesterday I was surprised not to see a couple of players rotated, particularly given the quality we have on the bench.

Relegation or europe are very, very unlikely scenarios now. It does appear however that we are likely in a battle to finish 9th. 9th would represent an improvement on last season, although it might be through a lower points tally than we achieved to finish 11th last season. Struggling to remember our last premier league top half finish.

Absolutely. It's easier to sell the aim of wanting to break into the european places next season, to a prospective player, when you're 9th, than it is when you finish 13th.

4 in 10 games for him now for Forest. Good stuff. Staggering that he has just 3 goals in 70 odd games for Villa. Most of those at championship level too.

I do see the point. But if he is proving to be a 1 in 2 championship striker, is that not exactly the type of player we would be spending £25mil on. I.e. he should feature a fair bit.

I agree. If he finishes the season getting one goal in every two games for preston, I dont see what we learn from him going to Blackburn next season and scoring 19 goals. I suppose it furthers his development and gives him game time. I just think he would feature a hell of a lot for us next season, if we arent to bring in another forward in the summer.

I think I like that we win a lot though. Weve won two fewer games than man u, which is remarkable in mid March when we've sacked a manager and their battling in champions league spots.

Depends whether you can class Staunton as a centre back? Cahill was pretty special against Blues.

How good are those bench options. Konsa, Buendia etc. Weve lacked the quality in depth for years!

Oh no, ye that's what I mean. I said to my mate after the Leeds game, it wouldn't surprise me if two or three of those who started tonight, other than Coutinho because a loan, arent here next season. It seems mad but that's what will likely happen. We'd need to do this anyway, plus Gerrard probably isnt impressed with a few who have decent value anyway.

I dont think its surprising at all re. Casualties. We need that to happen in order to evolve. Cant fund better players without it sadly.

I mean it makes sense. Ings and Watkins are bound to have spells out next season. He also provides a good option to come on for last 20 to 30mins too.

I think his loan would have been better suited to a championship team. He would probably offer a Blackburn or Huddersfield a fair bit.
