    The middle bunch really seem to be stuttering now. A good end to the season from us and we sneak top half I think.

    Does anyone else feel like this season was the worst set of fixtures/scheduling of matches that we've had in years. Or is this just the way itll be going forward, with very few Saturday 3PMs?

    Mine and my lads is a 20% increase too. I think this will give an opportunity to a decent chunk of the waiting list.

    This has been the case with us for a few years. When we beat Liverpool last year I think we had 9 British players playing.

    And for throwing about 10 bottles at our players for celebrating a goal.

    Ye I agree with the last bit particularly. If he was our first permanent summer signing we look pretty attractive then to others.

    I think with Watkins, and equally McGinn, and others, these players are where we are in the league right now. Midtable. Watkins has had a slightly poorer season than last and we are lower midtable. I saw someone further up in the thread call him young, but he isnt, I think he's 27 later this year, I think this is the Ollie Watkins that we get now, he hasn't pushed on this season from last. Who would be this next level striker that would come to Villa though, I'm not sure.

    I mean it wasnt a topic this season. Our lowest league position was what, 15th?

    I've grown to like Everton recently but I think that's because we've beaten them so often in recent years. Its probably better for villa for them to go.down though as leeds and Burnley likely wont be competing with us next season. If Everton turn it around they could be a top.half challenger again in.the coming years.

    I agree, his pressing was great today, forced so many errors from their defenders.

    Well that's what his goal figures showed in the last few seasons. Behind Kane and Salah, Ings was just above Vardy I think for goals. Its mad that we cant fit him in seemingly.

    It is a mediocre season, you're right, but its important we finish as high as possible. If you're a prospective signing this summer and you're being sold a vision to join a villa that finished 9th to push for Europe next season, it's far more attractive/believable than if we'd finished 15th, which sounds like we were just about good enough to stay in the league.

    Was really unlucky with a couple of decisions that went against him. Solid first start though.

    I mean it's still largely in our hands to finish top half. Ten points from remaining and we'd be 9th I'd imagine.

    Wow ye I like the idea of that. Which other keepers have been captains, was Schmeichel when Man U were successful, or was that Keane?

    They havent been fighting for there lives for a while. Or atleast it hasn't been possible for them to stay up for a while.

    No I agree. I think back to that first half away at Everton when he completely ran the show, and ended the half with that headed winner. I really think we should be playing him all the time. Particularly given his age and now that hes up to speed with the premier league.

    I'm closer to your take on him than wanting to sign him. We just generally dont look any better if at all with him in the team.

    Stephen Roger Bruce. I wouldnt what happened to him.

    With Chuk, Chrisene, Iroegbunam etc. Do they just stay on the fringes of the first team now and not player at lower age level?

    If we dont get another point then we deserve to go down. That would be one point from 36 I think? We'd also have lost 7 or 8 straight home games including games against Norwich, Burnley, Palace etc.
