  1. well....hopefully it isnt true and Archer is fit!
  2. Rumours that he might be injured.
  3. i would be highly surprised if Young is even a starter for us next season, so on that basis im not sure thats such a good idea. McGinn is also still a bad idea.
  4. cool, does that mean we can enjoy being a feeder club for a club who is top 5 in their league? I look forward to all the 17 year old Portuguese loanees coming our way. I for one, welcome our new Portuguese Overlords.
  5. 2 wins in 17 games for QPR. 1 win in 6 under Beale (of those 17). 1 win in 11 under Critchley. What a mess, Beale left just before his stock bombed!

we have had a generally poor XGA ever since we came back up broadly speaking. We are also now trying to play a much more technical style, which tbh a few of our players arent capable of, which is prob making it worse. tbh tho, it also points as much to the fact that our defence isnt that good overall, a couple of players aside.
  7. yeah...this. Emery's system to me looks like a hybrid. ie: patient and close build up from the back to draw the press and open up gaps behind, then quick/direct play to the forwards to exploit the space created by drawing the press and opposition players towards our defence/midfled. Its one reason i think we will be going for quick/athletic as well as technical players in the forward like and wide this summer, to allow the intricate play in our own half to transition to quick/athletic transition/direct play in the final half/third. Another reason Ings didnt suit Emery, he isnt the type of player Emery likes in his forward line, and i can see why we are being linked with players like Williams etc. Duran will also likely fit Emery's style.
  8. Not sure why thats an issue tbh. A load of people on here go on about us needing larger, more physical, more imposing players in the squad.

yeah but Bailey is a Ferrari, not a work horse cart, you dont go around asking a Ferrari to pull heavy loads, then expect it to perform like a Ferrari. His Dad said so.
  10. Seeing a left back who can pass, move, find space, play one-two's, technically good. is rapid and overlaps at speed.....is just something else. Granted his defending looks a little suspect at times, but hopefully that might improve a little as he adapts, but regardless, he is intended to be the attacking full back of the two. Really like him, after our (i hope) summer overhaul, he will be a real asset with more technical/dangerous players around him. looks a lot, lot.....more dynamic, technical and dangerous than Digne.
  11. yeah, dwight yorke started at Villa as a winger. pretty sure he only converted to a "striker" in his last 3 years at Villa (3 of 7 and a half-ish seasons).
  12. i wonder if Emery is giving him the chance to a) play himself out of the team, or b) play himself in to a move in the summer, or both.

i guess to give him a chance to hang himself.
  14. chambers. is duran injured?

there are 3-4 other short snippets of the interview also on the twitter feed.
  16. the incompetence of referee's in the PL is mind boggling, so many terrible VAR decisions, or terrible general decisions, i mean.....how on earth can this ever be allowed to happen!?!? I dont want to compare, but look at the refs in Rugby generally, and the VAR in Rugby, both are infinitely better, i dont understand how football can get something so simple, like VAR, so, so wrong..... the levels of general incompetence are actually shocking for such a major sporting event as the PL.
  17. today would have been a massive kick in the nuts for them. To go 1-0 up against a team close to them, the opposition has a player sent off and plays with 10 men for basically 75 mins, and Southampton go on to lose 2-1, that must be bad for confidence. i think the bottom of the table is pretty tight tbh, 7 points separate 12th to 19th (10 points diff. inc. to 20th), Southampton 4 points from safety, but effectively 5 points due to goal difference, having played a game extra, really doesnt look good for them. who knows what is going to happen though relegation wise, a run of 2-3 wins by some resurgent team towards the bottom would lift them right out and drop some decent teams around them in to trouble, will be interesting to see how the relegation scrap plays out. Just shows how well Emery has done, with the fixtures we have had in the last 6-7 PL games, we could really have been in the mire right now.
  18. Toney also did the Zulu sign to the Villa crowd a while back, then went on record in an interview saying how much he loved doing one over on us because his agent is an SHA fan. I really dont think it would go well for him here, and tbh, he's clearly thick as two short planks to promote a group of thugs in a goal celebration (Zulu's), add that to his "alleged" illegal betting, he's not exactly high on the IQ scale i dont think. He is a good player, but i just dont see it.
  19. was just about to post this. Assist in first game. Goal and assist today. nice.
  20. if he were to leave, what do ppl honestly think we would get for him? I know some people will band around £70m+, but i just dont see it, there are only 2 GK transfers over the 50m mark (Alisson & Buffon), then there was the Kepa deal which was just mental levels of stupid. Realistically, somewhere in the 40-45m bracket?
  21. wouldnt read too much in to it tbh, if he wants to go we would demand a high transfer fee, if not we keep him. tbh win-win.
  22. Villa Scouting Dept HQ. VT members valiantly defending all the s*** signings...
  23. maybe Kelser has been a naughty boy.
