thats a good point! it is a huge achievement in itself (Europa League), in a way its just that we have done so well in the last 18 months we are all hoping for CL, but if you step back, Europa league is a massive, massive achievement in of itself, its just our....expectations?.....have peaked a bit. to think where we were in Oct/Nov 2022 compared to now, its like an alternate universe.

tbf ye it would, so i guess that is pointless. i guess the only difference then would be more money for finishing 5th versus 6th.

Mathematically yes. but Manure would need to average 2.6 PPG just to match our current point total of 66 points. However, due to the GD, they would need 67 to overtake us, so thats actually 2.8 PPG to reach 67 points. i think its almost certain that Manure cant get 2.8 PPG for their final 5 games, thats 14 points, and would actually need 5 wins, as you cant not win them all and average 2.8ppg, and thats assuming we dont pick up even 1 more point before the end of the season. i would say 5th is the lowest we can finish. hopefully i havent set Manure up for a 5 game winning run and we collapse to 4 losses......as thats really the only way they can overtake us.

We didn't pay 15m though, we paid 8m with add ons up to 15m. I would guess we will end up paying most of those add ons though tbf.

While I agree in principle, even if we bought a RB, we would still only have that right back and cash. I guess it's all down to whether emery thinks hayden or kosta ned are ready to be backup and compete for the position with the new RB.

So this new contract wasnt really a new contract, it was the triggering of the 1 optional year that was part of the agreement when Emery joined. I would guess that they both have to agree to the extension, though, so all good i guess. Would be nice to see a new long term contract in the summer!

how about we dont put pressure on ourselves, lets just do our business and not worry about whats next, every time we have done it this season (spoke about expectations/wanting to do X or Y), we effed up. (ie: the twice we could have gone top etc etc)

isnt this just a pay rise or pay rise with some clause changes? im pretty sure his original contract ran until 2027?

the music started and i was thinking, oh yeah, some nice classical/high class music to go with the maestro Mr Rogers. Then the song kicked in and i just sat back and rolled my eyes. brilliant performance though, the lad really has it all, skill, composure, vision, guile, technique, size and power, not the quickest, but he isnt slow and he carries the ball well with the pace he does have. Genuinely, if he continues to develop, i can see him being one of my fave players, he has it all.

It's well within Chelseas grasp to get 6th spot and europa league this season (if europa goes to 6th spot with a man City FA Cup win?)

Sanson's contract doesnt expire, but he has a 5m mandatory buy if he has X appearances, not sure if he reached it or not, or if they plan to buy him anyways. i have seen some interviews with Sanson about him wanting to stay there, or was it a news report, cant remember.

just watching MOTD, just noticed he lost the ball before it was recovered and we scored the second. He lost it right on the edge of their box, he just jogged back and wasnt even in view 10-15 seconds later when we turned the ball over on the edge of our own box, then went up the other end and scored. thats terribly lazy, you lose the ball and then jog back like you have no cares in the world, should be busting a gut. not impressed.

no idea why this mime guy is the only place i can find Rogers interview....but here it is. Good interview i thought.

i guess its down to whether Bailey and Diaby start together, if one starts and one doesnt, then that is the room for Luiz. tbh, considering the two performances when Luiz wasnt playing, it would be harsh for him to come straight back in, but he did versus Lille as soon as he was available, so dunno.

i know you arent, but for others.... just looking at the figures, Newcastle and Manure are on 50 points with 6 games to play for each. Just to match our current total of 66 points, they need 16 points and 2.7 PPG for the rest of the season, so basically impossible.

tbf, i would be mad as a hatter if Villa didnt get at least 1, maybe 2 of those 3 penalty shouts. VAR seems to be a random decision generator rather than a referring tool.

first time we have won 20 games in a season since 1992/93. thats 31 years ago. unreal.
-
i dont want to get carried away, but if he continues to develop like he has been doing, he might end up being one of our key players and one of the first names on the team sheet next season. unreal signing so far. also, what a goal, absolute composure and skill, class.
