  1. I liked him when I saw him initially. I watched a few Kilmarnock games on tv and he'd do the odd good thing then disappear for 20 minutes. I remember Shane Warne describing monty panesaar as a man who hadn't played 40 tests he'd played the same test 40 times. I think the same applies to tish. He hasn't developed he hasn't got better he just is what he is.
  2. I agree. It's interesting that a lot of the grief he gets is because he doesn't fly into tackles as a midfielder. This has caused some to comment on his bravery. We have to remember that he was first in against blues when grealish got slapped, he was the one fighting leeds like a man possessed . I think he'll step up. If he had half the assists and half the goals I'd take that now . He's only playing deep because there's noone else to play there. He's not going to be a starter but he's a bloody good midfielder to come on in a tight game. Remember WBA in the playoffs, and the ball in the final for the first goal.
  3. He wasnt, 3 goals in 112 league games. Would suggest that he promised more than he ever delivered.
  4. Never got the Delph love. Not because of the wayear he left but his record. He was an attacking midfielder who rarely scored. I know there's more to being an atacking midfielder than goals , but he was an average player in increasingly poor teams. For me Same in a long list at villa from sasha curcic onwards.

  6. Men vs boys, literally. The Stratford goal scorer was 2 stone overweight and looked like his real job was as a bailiff. Thought Jack birch and Ben guy looked useful. The defenders were just bullied.
  7. Stephen 'tintin' Duffy ( one for the kids)!
  8. Think the understanding the club is a valid thing. Not understanding the club in a fan type way, but having an understanding of what the fans expectations are. Hence mon losing the fans after resting a team in the uefa cup. We expected the management to try and win the cup. I think there's a similar thing with Newcastle. One of the many reasons they hate Ashley is because they don't try and win cups, they concede them. Fans don't mind losing, but when your leaders "throw" the game. That's why I hated oleary, he was happy to lose 2 0 to manure and not even attempt to win.
  9. I'm hoping Deano and his staff when setting up a 5 a side game realised we don't have any centre halves. Chester and hause on 1 side, and.......
  10. I love the word untransformation. Compare this to smith, who clearly is going to play he wants regardless.
  11. If we get a couple more big guns, it'll be interesting because jack at any level will go past players if left 1 on 1.
  12. Someone at work today asked me how good he is. I said I can't compare him to any English player because no English player plays like him. I genuinely think there are better goal scoring / tackling midfielders than him, but he does something that the others can't do. I think that England (I'm an Ireland fan) will be a much better team with him in. Hes a continental player with a beautiful brummie accent.
  13. Yeah, it could fall apart when we realise we've signed gestede again!
  14. I love this signing. Right age. Experienced. Clearly ambitious. No more big money signings we're stuck with, with no sell on fee. i love the fact that nobody, anywhere predicted it.
  15. I disagree. I don't think there's place for a voice which is unrelentingly negative. Each event /decision should be taken at face value, not with a preordained no. I agree with the release of a lot of players. I disagree with the release of whelan. Some posts as you rightly imply clearly have an ulterior motive . I'm not sure what that is.
  16. Judging by how many are leaving, we've a few signings lined up. Glad we are being bold, we can't keep being seen as a comfy place to see out your career on 30k a week.
  17. Thursday 14th June. Fixture release day.
  18. A slightly better walk down Wembley way this year.
  19. Seldom many goals in these games. Would be tempted to start with Kodjia, and put green on against cole later. After last year I just want to take the game to them.
  20. Villa odds on at the bookies to go through. Not sure I'm that confident. gave up on promotion 13 games ago, now its temptingly close.
  21. Have season tickets with my two sons. Having to send my elder boy down with my brother as its the younger boys cup final at 11.00 tomorrow!!!!!!! Hate watching games on tv. starting to get nervous.
  22. Thanks for this thread. May not need it next year now we've binned most of the u23 team.
  23. My youngest has his cup final on the morning of 11th May. I can see some tactical substitutions in his game if it's a 1230 kick off.
