  1. Imagine what he will do with another couple of transfer windows. He us doing this with some wonderful players, but also some very average ones who he makes look like world beaters. Carlos is probably 4th choice centre half st the start of the season- was magnificent. Digne good solid full back - superb today. Rogers - a dozen games out if the championship. A genius.
  2. Closing in on Bosnich's record of 51 clean sheets.
  3. At times yes, but we have beaten 2 of the CL quarter finalists this season.
  4. This is my issue, it's not that the greedy 6 get any better / worse VAR decisions than any other team, it's the constant low level decisions which shift the balance. Dougie gets a 97th min yellow for a foul, probably a yellow card but it's literally the last kick of the game. Maddison clear red wasn't punished at all. The number of ttimes you see the greedy 6 being allowed to tactically foul with no consequence, compared to other teams is shocking. I do think we lack discipline though, which is exacerbated by the injuries and gaps over the pitch, which does see Dougie pulling people back repeatedly. I don't think we're dirty. Now, that Ben Mee though......
  5. I think we are missing Kamara more than any of the other absentees, we are pretty open through the middle.
  6. Agree totally, moreno was coaching him in the first half defensively. Needs to add this to his game to become a regular.
  7. Take by your multiple posts that you haven't forgiven John McGinn yet.?
  8. 5 first choice starters out 2/3 playing when carrying injuries Having to rotate kids / inexperienced players. He's not doing too bad.
  9. @FootRankings on Twitter explains the co-efficents brilliantly. (As above), should read the thread!
  10. Waking up after yesterday with a sense of disappointment, but that shows how far we've come under Emery. We have a thin squad, which was always going to get found out through injuries at some point. We played Man U off the park yesterday, created more good chances and half chances, but didn't take them. Does Emery get everything right - no. But he doesn't get much wrong. I would have left Bailey on, but this would have left us with a Bruce style (play off final defeat) 4 2 4 Emery won't do this. His rigid formation has got us discussing Champions League, and European trophies. In terms of the team selection, on why isn't Chambers starting ahead of Lenglet, thats quite clear to anyone who has seen him play. For those questioning him, and we are allowed to, is there another manager who would have done better with this squad of players? If we are being honest, how many of our first team go to Arsenal, Liverpool, Man City? Martinez , Luiz? (Who I think will go to Man City in the Summer). Is he the best manager we've had in decades imo Yes. Perfect -no but who is.
  11. I remember Neale Coopers (rip) home debut, almost cut a player in half. A solid player, but hard as nails.
  12. A true club legend. 17 years! Senior career* Years Team Apps (Gls) 1959–1976 Aston Villa 660 (14) 1976–1977 New York Cosmos 24 (0) Total 684 (14)
  13. I know it wont happen, but I'd knock it all down and rebuild a 21st stadium. The stadium reminds me of Triggers broom from OFAH. As stated above, the facilties are poor, the beauty of the Holte has been gradually eroded, and the Trinity isn't the Trinity. The transport is appalling. To have better facilitates requires the replacement if whole stands, not just knocking down the odd wall. The view from the TV looks great, but the fan experience is clearly poor.
  14. Don't care about holidays, jet or anything else. I don't understand the obsession with what players do in their free time. He isn't playing very well, and other than flashes in occasional games doesn't look as if he was a great signing. In his defence, in his role he is asked to work back which doesn't really suit his game. The pace and aggressiveness of the Newcastle press really left him at sea (without a jet ski). Probably a really good player in a different league.
  15. I don't think this is true. I don't think anyone has problems with players being purchased and then loaned out. If we did this with Duran, I don't think be uproar.
  16. Totally, that was my point. If there's players who are on our radar, fine, but we can't buy lesser players for the sake of it. It's the equivalent of house hunting. You want a 4 bed detached with garage, there'll be 3 or 4 you're looking at, you have a favourite but you would take any. f none are available you don't suddenly buy a 1 bedroom flat.
  17. We need to sign players, but they need to be players who were under consideration long term anyway. There's no way we can lose Beundia and Mings for a season (potentially) and do nothing. Knee jerk signings will screw us for 3 to 4 years.

  19. used to watch Porridge for the references to Villa. Remember there was a brilliant scene in spooks referencing the mighty Villa.
  20. Away game please I'm on my hols.
  21. Lescott. Xia Ellis Can cope with players like Collymore who had bigger issues than football. lI'll remember the capitulation against Liverpool and then Lescotts tweet! One of many Self serving lazy sods.
  22. I don't disagree but our squad is painfully thin. I don't think they would be Unais first choice, but I don't think we will sign half a dozen players.
