Living in the US, it does factually resemble that behavior at times, where it is not necessarily who is right that wins, just who has the most money (for legal bills) to drag the case out. This is where a lot of the pro-Trump/Cruz rightwing thinking comes from though. As all they see, are their honest hardworking tax dollars being spent for borderline corrupt (at least ethically) things like this.

Oh, I agree. Clinton is very beatable and I think that even Trump will have a very good shot at beating her. But if Ryan were to be the nominee, he will have done so via starting an open civil war in the republican party and I would not expect Trump to go quietly into the night. In such a fractured race there is no plausible way for a republican candidate to win the electoral college... and I suspect Ryan knows this too, as do the smarter heads in the repub party irrespective of the current game being played.

Why would Ryan do this? If Clinton was going to be indicted, then he might have a free run, but otherwise he's a known quantity with plenty of neo-liberal free market bs baggage (e.g., various crap budgets, 2012/Romney) and would be very unlikely to beat Hillary. Right now, he's in a position of incredible power in the US governmental system and if instead of fighting Trump, they united with him in some way, the repubs are in with a good shot of keeping the Senate in repub hands (the house is a gerrymandered lock). If they lose this, he doesn't take a lot of personal damage (blame Trump), keeps his current position and will be positioned for a much stronger presidential challenge in the future. I think Ryan is a bit of a scumbag but I recognize him as a smart man also and can't imagine him taking such a risky chance.

errr... 3yrs back was pretty big, sooner the better though. The limits on testing and development are such bs. For a team the size of Ferrari to not be sure how their car would work on the medium tire is ridiculous. @SteveMac: I think it just means I'm a bit of a wimp when it comes to 5k/10k right now. I've done a couple of 12mi@~6:30 runs for my current cycle and I've a 14mi@~6:30 tomorrow that I'm not overly worried about.

A worrying amount of people conflating refugees/immigration with salafi/jihadi terrorism/extremism. How many of you have written to your MP complaining about the official British government position vis-a-vis patient zero Saudi Wahabia? Do you know about Al-Yamamah? But then again, how can we really deal with the extremist religious positions of these people given the outright nonsense privilege afforded to a fundamentally similar set of religious folk in our own societies? Hard questions need to be asked... but we'll resort to bombing, and more invasion of my life by some more showy nonsense to placate my sense of insecurity or is it yours.... who knows, but someone somewhere is scared!
