  1. And looking at it again, I am now totally unsure that I have got that right... He needs to work out how to use parentheses better! :-)
  2. 99.9%+98%+(51%->)99.99%+50% We have a 99.9% We have a 98% We have a 99.99% that was previously 51% We have a 50% That is four signings. Unless he messed up his bracketing...
  3. I have accepted another season or so rebuild period, but with the caveat that we get back before Liverpool surpass our seasons in the top flight. Imagine the nauseating punditry if the Merseyside derby became the most played top flight game...
  4. Yeah, I am getting ads again now. Second month in a row this has happened at renewal time.
  5. Thing is these players need to know that their behaviour will not be tolerated by the fans. I am not prepared to accept this at all - unfortunately I can't think of any other way this message can be sent to him. Do you have a suggestion?
  6. Grrrr! Have friends coming up from Bristol that weekend to go watch it!
  7. Wow! I never knew that - I'm sure I should have known that. What an interesting bit of trivia.
  8. R.I.P. Graham and thanks for the good times you brought to VP.
  9. Definitely seems a strange thing to tweet. Can't really see what it is meant to achieve.
  10. Was ok. Not brilliant, but we weren't embarrassed and made a few chances and to me it suggests we may not be so far off the pace in the PL if we were to get promoted. Certainly I thought we looked better than against spurs in recent years.
  11. To be fair, I can hear the Plymouth fans now!
  12. Just listen to that magical atmosphere at Anfield.
  13. Happy New Year VT! Seeing in the New Year in the cabin (well, sort of, summerhouse/shed thing) in my garden with friends.
  14. Now, I probably misheard, or it means nothing (most likely) but I am sure Alex Bruce referred to Villa as 'we' on footie focus just now. If he did I assume it was a reference to his dad being in charge and all that, but still...
  15. I saw him against Tamworth like some others. He was fast and strong and involved in everything and has a good eye for goal. But the one thing that worries me is that he has no (in the words of a villa employee who was hanging around the place) 'mental map' of who is around him. He may improve with this aspect of his game, but really he does seem to have a touch of the Ayews about him when it comes to teamwork. I would love to be proved wrong and see him grow into a top player but I am not convinced right now.
  16. Well, I learnt that Ken Miles who developed and drove that '66 le mans winning gt40 is from Sutton Coldfield. According to Wikipedia he would have won that '66 race but deliberately let Bruce McLaren pass him because he was annoyed that Ford ordered him to slow down over the line to create the photo opportunity of the three gt40s crossing the line together. Interesting choice of protest if true... Overall, I have found the grand tour to be pretty much just another series of top gear. Some stuff I like a lot some I don't. A lot of the studio banter is dreadful. Not entirely sure I can tell that the supposedly amazing photography and production values are all that much better either - I always thought the TG team did a fantastic job anyway in that respect.
  17. Just seen Rogue One. Given how much I disliked The Force Awakens, I was really hoping I would enjoy this one. And I did. A really good film, well judged in feel and pacing and how much it referenced the original trilogy. Some issues here and there, of course, as others have documented, most notably with the disappointing soundtrack, but if you didn't like TFA you may well like this one. Wouldn't say it was one for young kids though - it is pretty dark in tone and quite violent.
  18. Thing is, we weren't (to my eyes) any worse today than any of the last few games, we just managed to get results from those games by hook or by crook. We haven't looked like a cohesive team capable of controlling games in general, even though Bruce has got us paying better overall. I still think promotion is a big ask unless we do very good business in the transfer window. Don't get me wrong, I think Bruce is the man and he has worked wonders since he arrived, but there is a limit to what this set of players can achieve, and tough well-organised teams like Leeds today are always going to be a stretch for us.
  19. I'm not 100% sure it was even a foul. Really don't think it was a yellow. But Jedi was being careless in the first instance when losing the ball.
  20. "Maybe we will build some tourism destination to demonstrate the history of Villa as the first club to [help] found the [Football] League" Sounds good! I have been arguing that this would be a great tourist attraction for Birmingham for ages. (Although I don't see why they needed to insert the word 'help' really, it was Villa that found the league)
  21. He made some unexpectedly great bonecrunching tackles too, seems like he's adding some toughness to his game.
