  1. Was hoping we wouldn't play the same team as the QPR game. If they perform like that again I can't see us winning. Relying on a bit of magic from Kodjia every game plus 69 minutes of last-ditch defending isn't sustainable. Would have liked to see Hourihane and Green for Bacuna and Amavi myself.
  2. Anyone know what music we came out to at the QPR game? It wasn't ELP's Fanfare For The Common Man this time but I couldn't work out what it was on the diabolical pa system in the Doug Ellis.
  3. Bruce on the radio described the game exactly how I saw it. He obviously didn't feel he could improve the team with earlier subs for whatever reason, whether that is due to lack of fitness or whether he is trying to save them for later games, or whether he just didn't have enough faith in them I don't know. But pleased to see he at least acknowledges that we were making far too many mistakes in the latter stages, and that we are at least resilient in the face of pressure.
  4. Total domination from us in the first five minutes - I thought we were going to rack up a cricket score. Then we slowly slowly started to drift out the game until the end was just backs-to-the-wall scrambling with incredibly bad decision making from some of our players. However, we stayed firm again and got the points. Bruce should probably have been more proactive with subs - Amavi and Bacuna and Adomah were struggling in the second half, especially when Holloway changed his side up. But hey, another win and another cracking goal. Good stuff. Just wish we could keep our heads for a whole game.
  5. BBC commentator on the burnley-spurs game: "Let's hope that injury doesn't look as serious as it is"
  6. Two great goals. The first highly skilful and the second a real opportunistic poacher's goal. He can do both types and do them well.
  7. Well, although this seems on the face of it to be an Islamic terrorist action, let's assume for this argument it isn't and it is the actions of an unreligious man with a grudge against the police or something. The increased fervour as a result of this accusation could lead to reprisals against ordinary Muslims, a furthering of extreme right-wing agendas, more leverage for the likes of Trump to push through his laws, all sorts. Putting that to one side though because it may well be related to Islam anyway, a known radicalised hate-monger might now have cause to sue and get himself a load of money to further his potentially aspirations; his family and acquaintances might now be unfairly targeted by those looking for some kind of 'revenge'; all kinds of things could end up happening as a result. However you look at it, incorrectly naming somebody as a multiple murderer in the national press is disastrous, but in this climate I just think it could have all sorts of repercussions. I also now won't be considering the Independent to be a reliable news source - the number of which are sadly dwindling rapidly.
  8. If it turns out not to be the guy the Independent reported then they have a lot of explaining to do. In the current climate distributing misinformation like that is utterly irresponsible and could have all sorts of consequences.
  9. Wow, naz premji is really annoyed on the BBC that we have scored again! Well done Hogan
  10. Final Score just said it is 'utter domination' by Wigan. Is that really the case or just more rubbish from the BBC?
  11. https://twitter.com/BBCMOTD/status/843070100768874496 Little clip on Twitter (again the embedding hasn't worked for some reason I don't understand)
  12. 442, Bree and amavi on the wing, adomah and kodjia up front?
  13. Nice interview with Steve on Footie Focus just. Said all the right things as far as I am concerned. Knows he has to get the club promoted, knows it isn't realistic this season although there is still a chance. He also referred again to the state the club was in and that there are small shoots of recovery and that things are getting better. Was good to see Dion back at Bodymoor Heath too.
  14. Well done Leicester, a great evening of the sort that i wish we could have back at villa park, but Vardy's behaviour has taken the shine off it for me a little bit.
  15. How anybody ever thought Albrighton wasn't good enough for us I will never know. I was really annoyed when we let him go.
  16. BBC on final score just claimed it was an unchanged team. They really do not watch the games at all do they?
  17. Thought it was good. Enjoyed it more than the grand tour to be honest, which bordered on unwatchable at times. I think the three presenters will only get better. I really like Chris Harris - I find his enthusiasm for the cars infectious, but I worry that he could become a caricature of himself very quickly.
  18. I always knew Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart was a Villa fan
  19. Why did Green have to get injured? Agreed though, feel like this would be a good opportunity for Grealish to start making amends and put in a performance. Maybe he'll get the last half hour or so.
  20. It is time for the race for the first West Midlands mayor to begin. The campaigns are ramping up and the various candidates have hit twitter with everything they have. For those unaware, the candidates are: Green: James Burn UKIP: Pete Durnell Liberal Democrat: Beverley Nielsen Labour: Siôn Simon Communist: Graham Stevenson Conservative: Andy Street Will they improve the fortunes of the region? Will they be utterly ineffective? Will they act as a voice for the West Midlands or just toe the party line? Will they get on with Dr Tony and his grand plans for Birmingham?
  21. Yes, I noticed that, he was being particularly aggressive and abusive all game.
  22. Yeah, he definitely looked more comfortable against Bristol to me. And once we started mixing up the distribution in the second half (i.e.. stopped always lumping it straight to their defenders) we grew into the game. However, I still don't approve of getting in a Man U reserve keeper regardless. Does nothing to help the future stability of this club and in fact will just introduce further uncertainty and upheaval in the summer when we'll have to get yet another keeper in. The management should really offer an explanation for this IMO (because for all we know there may be a very good one).
  23. The reason for the minor booing is because the crowd was getting more and more frustrated with Johnstone faffing about before hoofing the ball towards their back line only for it to come straight back to him to faff then hoof and have it come back ad infinitum. After half time we changed the pattern of play and started to build up from the back a bit more and suddenly looked much better than the first half. I wonder how much the crowd getting on the players' backs contributed to this change and how much it was instruction from Bruce. FWIW I thought Johnstone looked a hit better this game and seems to slowly be gaining confidence and taking charge of situations.
