I think @MaVilla put it best here: This has been pretty much the same with Smith and now Gerrard, and when other players get dropped for playing badly but McGinn doesn't, that makes the fanbase more frustrated in general.

he is genuinely our most important/influential player just because of how he links the defense with the attacking half of the pitch. I haven't seen any of the other players have the ability to do that today -- his skillset isn't replicated with anyone in the squad apart from maybe Nakamba (and Iroegbunam might have the potential)

don't see how this type of performance is unexpected when Gerrard picked an extremely unbalance midfield without someone who is okay sitting back. Also loaning Targett out seems like quite the masterstroke now

the thing that has me is that they wanted to make our option a mandatory one, which iirc would've meant that he would have had to agree to contract terms with us before even moving on loan.

I keep wondering when Krystian Bielik (Derby CB) gets a move. He's had terrible ACL injury luck which isn't really good, but I think he is a very good player

looks like Fulham and Bournemouth will be the clear 1st & 2nd place finishers, but with places 3-10 all within 9 points with everyone having at least a game in hand on Huddersfield town in 3rd. Hopefully be getting a new-ish team coming up through the playoffs.
