  1. Maxwel Cornet signs for Burnley. Lyon fans celebrating like they did when Traore left.
  2. I find the the #freeguilbert Strasbourg trolls quite amusing. I'm in no rush to sell Guilbert unless we get a reasonable offer for him (probably around EUR 6 to 8M). We need depth - especially with all the injuries we have and Kesler having gone out on a full season loan.
  3. After the first three matches, and with all the injuries and disruptions we are facing, it's quite obvious this will be a transitional year. I'm recalibrating expectations to somewhere between 10th - 12th in the league table. Still feel we have a very good young nucleus and can make the jump to Europe in the 2022-23 season with only 1 or 2 additions and a couple of the Academy players maturing.
  4. Happy with the point. AEG my MOTM. But worried that we were bullied by a promoted side. We don't have the swagger of a European challenging team.
  5. Can't make this up - rival bid to NSWE calling themselves Las Vegas Heroes https://sbisoccer.com/2021/08/prospective-ownership-group-to-use-name-las-vegas-heroes-as-mls-expansion-race-heats-up-in-sin-city
  6. Presume Our team will be fresh come second half of the season.
  7. I'm curious to see how we manage Academy talent that are late bloomers. Not all top talents are ready to break into a Premier League side (especially one that aspires to be Top 6) at age 19 or 20. Most will be ready at age 23 or 24. Will we be loaning them out for 4-5 years until they fully mature?
  8. I don't see Guilbert part of Smith's plans Martinez Bogarde - Tuanzebe - Hause - Targett Sanson - Chuck - Nakamba JPB - Wes - El Ghazi
  9. He's really stepped it up this season. Think a goal or two will take his confidence to the next level.
  10. Would prefer his teammate Lucas Paqueta, but doubt he is available. Check out his goal from earlier today:
  11. Smith himself said there was a lot to improve on the Newcastle performance, so I think raising concerns post match is in order.
  12. Maybe a bad analogy, but I equate sports team ownership to having children. No amount of research can prepare you for the realities of it.
  13. Hope it’s not true, but would not be surprised if that day comes sooner than later. As I wrote previously, there comes a time when it hits these owners that everything is stacked in favor of the top clubs and you need to invest billions, not just millions, to compete.
  14. JPB and Carney now listed with the first team on the official website. Congrats to both!
  15. Our technical team probably sees attributes and deeper stats that lead them to believe he has future potential. The top talents at age 19 are not always the same ones at age 24. .....that or we're doing Carney's agent a favor
  16. Really surprised how quickly he contributed. A livewire.
  17. Seems Smith just did not prepare the team for Watford. The side was clearly not ready for their counter. First game of the season, newly promoted side, away match - we should have been much more resolute at the back at the start of the match. Have expressed this before, my big worry this season is that Smith will choose our best 11 players and not our best formation. Furthermore, I really hope he does not continue to play favorites with the likes of McGinn and Cash who at times need rotating.
  18. I am not a constant El Ghazi critic like some others here, but you can clearly see the gulf in quality between him and the likes of Bailey and Traore. He should not be starting matches.
  19. Feel he set-up the team completely wrong today. Confident he'll sort it out.
  20. It's as though Smith forgot to prepare for the oppositions and their strengths.
  21. Putting the shoe on the other foot, I would not want my local team to be a satellite club for a Premier League side. For those outside of the UK, would you support a club in your locality that is part of CFG, RedBull, etc.?
  22. Commercial guide to the Premier League and clubs: https://www.sportspromedia.com/analysis/premier-league-2021-22-guide-club-sponsor-tv-rights-deals? The first step is for us to become best of the rest. Everton for example earn £7M more on their kit deal and £4M more from Cazoo than us.
