I wouldn't call myself that patriotic. There are probably 3 countries that I feel a part of. I just call it as I see it. Also, that song has been done to death over here. But that video is a very good rendition of it, I'll give you that.

I think it's also to do with how the country view's its national team. From reading England threads on here, it comes across to me as though many people just don't care about their national team anymore. They don't give a stuff because: 1. the national team have disappointed the fans on too many occasions before, or 2. the player's don't seem to care/value playing for their country, or 3. the English media love to see the national team fail I think in Australia, and in many other countries, playing for your country is still the highest honour, both for players and fans. That's why the fans get behind the team. England's players are seen to be making excuses not to play for their country. Again, that's just how it comes across to me as an outsider.

Personally I'm not the best person to ask. I've probably only been following football properly since '06, so Aussie teams before that period aren't my forte. A couple of the other guys here would know better. I'd say the current team aren't as good as the 2010 side, let alone the 2006 team. But there are a couple of younger players who can and are having an impact. It'll be interesting to see if any of the older players are forced out by the time the World Cup rolls around.

After listening to that interview, it honestly sounds like he's paranoid. Like the media are out to "get" him. "I'll show 'em! They think they can push me around. I have powerful friends you know! No-one pushes Joe Kinnear around! I'll show 'em. I'll show 'em all!"
