  1. Shows that if we get promoted our new owners will probably quadruple (if not more) their investment in 12 months. The money in the Premier League is insane. Plenty of teams are going to be in the shit like us if they get relegated and don't go straight back up.
  2. It's not really known if either of the new owners know anything about football, or if they have someone lined up who does, so it's all a bit up in the air. It seems sensible to just keep Bruce IMO.
  3. The constant use of the word 'charlatan' in On Topic makes me want to punch people
  4. Is Micah Richards any good at basketball? Maybe we could flog him to Milwaukee for £50m.
  5. I can't see the new owners wanting huge upheaval straight away considering this seems to have been a very quick deal. They may not have the right expertise lined up to advise properly on the football side of things so see Bruce as a safe pair of hands.
  6. A few things, firstly the price was cheaper, second they had the Mendes link plus didn't have the ticking time bomb that was the parachute payments running out with a load of overpaid unusable shite in the bomb squad.
  7. Hopefully it's someone who can spend lots of money, have a direct relationship with the fans and appoint people with experience of running other top English clubs.
  8. I watched Wolf Of Wall Street which was alright. Possibly my prejudice against films longer than two hours clouds my judgment but I didn't find it anything special.
  9. I still think £25m would be exceptional value for anyone in the Prem. Also Jack would regret not joining Spurs or someone at that level to stay in the Championship.
  10. It really is a spectacularly badly designed stadium. So much money wasted and no wonder nobody wants to sponsor it.
  11. I may be missing something but aren't West Midlands Village just Aston Villa, hence having the same kit is nothing unusual?
  12. Yeah we should have had a pretty obvious plan B lined up involving Kane going up top closer to the box and playing wingers. For pretty much the whole tournament we used Kane deeper and used Sterling to stretch the game but once Croatia stopped Pickford passing the ball out and he had to play it long all the time it made the system pretty redundant. Something for Southgate to work on.
  13. Flying back from Cuba the other year there was a little fat lad going on about his legs hurting pretty much all flight which really pissed me off as it was an overnight flight and I wanted some sleep so I kept tutting and looking disapprovingly at the Mum. I didn't realise until we were about to get off that he was actually partly disabled and used a wheelchair.
  14. Southgate has been very sensible saying we aren't a top 4 team and they all know it. They capitalised on a good draw and better teams falling in a heap which was the best we could hope for, though the way England played was great to see IMO and genuinely surprising. They did boss the first half against Croatia but showed their naivety and lack of plan B from then on. Hopefully we can add a few new players over the next 2-4 years, but even then it's possible a better England team won't get as far as a semi final. That's the beauty of tournament football.
  15. My mate has gone today. Spent £400 on two tickets and might not even get to see Nadal v Djokovic ?
  16. Me too. There's a big enough body of work to judge it on, but if others prefer someone else that's fine, even if I can't understand it. The way Messi can completely flummox a defender with a shimmy one way or the other or both is incredible. I don't think I have ever seen him do a stepover in all his career.
  17. I do it too. Conversely when I'm really concentrating on doing some sort of task I stick my tongue out while I'm doing it. No idea why.
  18. It's a bit different coming through Barca's system to Sporting's. One is one of the biggest clubs in the world, the other is known as a stepping stone to bigger things, as to a degree were United. As Messi was the best player in the world already by the age of 19, no amount of money would have bought him for the next 10-15 years. There's also the fact that Messi is clearly the better footballer regardless.
  19. To be fair I thought Maguire had Mandzukic when the ball got cleared and when it came back in he'd moved onto Stones' shoulder so they're equally to blame. I'd put it down to mental fatigue as much as anything.
  20. Arseballs. Croatia were just miles better than us after half time, we showed our naivety. Shame a defensive error settled the game too.
  21. Young had to come off really, Vrsaljko had the freedom of that side of the field.
